Chinese tires

I just had to replace all the tires on my 355QBQ. The tires all had air bubbles in the sidewall close to the rim. It happened in July on a hot day and driving around 65 mph. The tires were close to blowing out. I replaced the 5 tires with Goodyear Marathons and metal valve stems which I plan on putting on Pressure/temp sensors.(on order)

My advice is to keep a close eye on the sidewalls on both sides of the tires on hot days (94'). I checked the tires in the middle of the day and all was ok but four hours later they all had bubbles on both inside and outside near the rim.

When I was in the tire store the machanic working on my trailer said he had a blowout the year before with his Keystone 5er and it had chinese tires also.

Have any others had similar problems?

i have a comment abt the screw on pressure temp sensors; there have been times mine would leak and cause the tire to go flat. was told to use Teflon tape when installing them. believe they have a tendency to loosen with road vibration. it isn't a major problem, but it occasionally happens.

The pressure monitor I ordered is a Talon. It has set screws on the sensors to lock them in place.

I heard that the marathon are made in china now. Before a while ago they were made in U.S. I had a 1992 trailer with marathon tires and they were made in U.S. On my new rockwood I have triangle tires. It is not marked anything where they are made but after some checks on the internet I found that they are from china. To tell you the truth I dont have any problems with them.

I found a posting on another website where someone said Goodyear brought their plant back into the U.S.A. To many complaints and warranty claims on the Chinese quality (what's new). This fellow said he ordered his tires (July 2011) from his dealer with the specification that they be the new ones made in the U.S. He waited two weeks and got the U.S. ones. There are old stock Chinese tires circulating that you do not want.

To my disappointment I checked the tires on my new 2011 Rockwood Signature 5er. DURO tires, Made in China. Crap.

the walmart tires were made in korea and i never had a problem there... wonder if it is just the rubber quality or the craftsman quality..

Bill: Duro tires are being made since many years. To give you a small exemple. I have duro tires on my mountain bike and they are over 10 years old. I dont have a single crack in them. It is an exemple like apples and oranges but I think you have a good company there even if it is from China!

Duro tires might be ok, but I wasn't taking any chances, and replaced my brand new Duros with Maxxis tires. I also wanted to upgrade from C-rated to D tires, just to be extra safe. a blowout can cause a lot of damage, is it really worth taking the chance? I don't think so.

I just did the same thing. I am not going to take a chance on thousands of dollars damage for hundreds of dollars for tires. In fact my tires and wheels are in the city now having the new tires put on. I told the dealer I wanted Goodyears made in North America. He recommended the Titan, load range D. I have all the DOT tire manufacture codes of countries of origin. I will be checking the code before I pay for them for sure.

I just won't buy Chinese. Melamine in baby formula, lead paint on baby cribs, poisonous chemicals in plastics, banned pesticides in honey, just to name a few things they have been caught doing. They just have no regard for human life if it gets in the way of the dollar. What makes anyone think tires are any different?

year before last, i went to Sams club looking for a trailer tire. this particular one didn't have any so i told them i wanted the Goodyear and at least a load range E (E is what my trailer calls for). when it arrived, it was load range G...i live a sheltered life, didn't know they had a letter above E in a 16".
unfortunately, i don't know where it was made.
i use to not worry abt the cracks; after my blowout, i replace the tires with almost no wear showing that show cracks. it hurts but not as much as the damage they can cause.

Yeah, I hear ya. But wouldn't it be cooler if they were all made in the U.S.A.?
