Curt 5th wheel hitch for Sandpiper 32QBBS
Anybody using a Curt Q16 (16120) 5th wheel hitch for a 32QBBS or comparable size/weight 5th wheel? Any information will be helpful. I looking to purchase a new hitch and like the looks and price of this model Curt.

I use a Q20. Very similar, just heavier frame. Not much more money, so I would step up if I were you. Works well. Latches secure and easy to see if it's latched or not.

I also use the Q20 and am happy with it, got mine off Amazon cheaper than I could find anywhere online. I would also recommend stepping up to the Q20.

I got the q20 as well this year.
Works well and also would recommend it. It is much heavier then my old husky 16k.

I agree with Dave,I have the Q20 also and would say it is the best one I have owned!!

Thanks for the advice and information on the Curt q20. Will the q20 fit on my current Reese rails or do I need to purchase Curt rails?

Curt is specific to their rails. You will need to purchase the rails as well. The ones that go with 16120 is vehicle specific. I would recommend going on Hitchwebs website: 5th Wheel Install Kit and finding which one is specific to your vehicle or you can purchase 16200 which is a universal application.

I have the curt q20 installed with Reese rails. Before that I had a 16k husky with Reese rails. Top mounted rails are universal.

Q20 here also. Been towing with it for 5 years. I'm not a "frequent flier", but the hitch has sure seen its share of work. Other that it's a heavy bugger, I've had no complaints or problems.

I've also got a q20. Mounted on my Reese rails. Much nicer unit all the way around than my 15k Reese.scored mine off of Craig's list for a lot less than new. Guy stated that he only used it once, and it looks like it. Never hurts to shop around.

I run the Q16 with the manual slider legs on my setup. My trailer is a 2015 Saber Silhouette 322BHTS. 11,000 pounds loaded.
I actually pulled my camper home with my fathers Q20 and it rode significantly more stiff than my Q16 does. I assume due to the fact that the Q20 is rated for more weight obviously...
Overall the Q16 latches very nicely and unlatches just as nicely. I prefer that the Q16 actually has interlocking/overlapping jaws where the Q20 jaw only buts up to each other. Not saying that would be a problem but I do like the concept of the overlapping...
Have towed a handful of times with my setup and have 0 complaints about it... just DONT order the head and roller assembly from Amazon...
Long story short they only shipped me the head and didnt feel the roller was part of their assembly, when the page specifically called out both part numbers... Then when i went to order just the roller setup they required it to ship freight as they claimed it weight 16,000 pounds.... after shaking my head and arguing I canceled the legs from amazon and ordered elsewhere...

Ialso have the q20. bought it because curt also makes a frame that mounts in the factory installed pucks in the bed (ie no rails). this is my first hitch and we have only pulled about 1000 miles so far. but the hitch seems to work well and the price on the internet was far below the competitors. it was shipped on a pallet and delivered to our garage. no problem there and I was able to do the complete installation myself.

Q20 here for the 32 qbbs as well. My only complaint is that it is not a side to side tilting head. I don't know if that option was available but that's what I have and it works great so far.

have a curt q24 on our dually pulling a trilogy 38wt. so far the curt is by far superior to the previous reese hitch we had used. got it from amazon and was amazed everything was in the box since it was torn to pieces. they really need to put it on a pallet instead of just shipping a box. amazon had the best price by far also.

I have a Q16 for my 371 rebh, and it works ok except for the slight gap between the jaws and the kingpin. I wonder if I should upgrade to a bigger head since it's rated for 16K and my trailer grosses at 15,500?

Can you describe the gap better?
I recommend running a lube plate, it seems there is some tolerance built into the hitch for this piece and with out there is some extra slop...
as far as upgrading, if the hitch is rated over your campers gross weight you should be fine... assuming you dont overload your camper...
When it comes to my hitches that have some cushioning factor to them I generally done over size as the cushioning on the heavier units is for heavier trailers... without the extra weight the ride can be more harsh... my 11,000 pound 5er with my 16,000 pound hitch rides very nicely...
