Dometic Sealand 510 plus toilet. Anyone put one in a Sandpiper?

We just came off of our first extended stay with our new Sandpiper 379FLOK.

It became obvious after about 3 days that our factory installed toilet is lacking. First off, it's too low and we both have knee problems. The small round'ish seat area is ok for small folks but we are taller/heavier and I guess, a wider than average rear-end.

Enter the new toilet we are considering: Anyone with experience using / installing the 510 plus dometic sealand toilet? The description says to just remove two bolts to take off the old potty / disconnect the water connection. Simply do that in reverse and you're good to go.

I'm thinking it can't be that easy. Any advice is appreciated before I take on this task on myself. I have average experience with campers so the job doesn't scare me unless it is tougher than it sounds. I'm more worried about having to rearrange plumbing I suppose.

After further review of products out there, I'm not sure which model to get. We need the 18 inch tall toilet and it needs to be elongated with residential/conventional specs. Would appreciate tips from anyone who has tackled this problem.

320 dometic will fit but more problems.

So upon more investigation, I found that the 310 I have can be easily upgraded to the dometic 320 which is more the size of conventional toilets and is elongated with 2 inch rim.

I removed the 310 today, easy to do, to find an unpleasant surprise in my brand new 2018 379 FLOK. It seems when they cut the hole in the floor for the toilet to rest over, there was not enough room for the toilet to fit, the wall was too close. So they cut a new hole further away from the wall and installed an angled pipe to account for the miss. It's so far away from where the black tank is that they had to use a pipe with about 20 plus degree angle to carry the waste from toilet to the tank.

The original toilet barely covers the two holes. I sure as heck hope this is not the beginning of toilet / black tank problems down the road. I also noticed that the metal flange around the hole only has screws on one side because the other side has the extra hole. So the toilet is basically 1/2 secured to the floor metal flange.

My 320 arrives this coming Tuesday so we shall see if I can put the new one exactly where the factory installed one was. Meanwhile, I got this other hole under my toilet. Do I need to take photo's and contact the factory? OF course they know about it, they did it. This is crazy. Makes me wonder about the fit and finish of other things to be discovered down the road.

dometic 320 upgrade from 310, issues.

New toilet comes in and I try to install. Failure. Despite what Dometic says, my 320 does not fit on 310 footprint.

1st, take measurements, elongate hole in order to install 320. Now there are 3 holes in the floor. 2 by the manufacturer and the new one. See photo of old blue flange. You will see the additional hole made by the manufacturer. You will also notice a 't'. I've added that for a bidet I will also be installing.

Problems:
1st issue is moving the flange forward (away from wall) for installing the new toilet. This means I must cut a new hole in the floor and change the orientation of the flange discharge as it no longer matches up with hole in black tank. So I order a new dometic toilet flange with a 45 degree downspout. I buy a 45 degree coupler to go with the 45 degree flange so that I have a total of 90 degrees and it moves the flange forward away from wall. It moves it about an inch too much. So I cut about a 1/2 inch off the coupler and use a short piece of connecting pipe. This works and it will line up however,

2nd issue: ABS and PVC should not be coupled. Well I didn't know that but I do now. So I research the issue and find some compelling evidence online that it can be done and if it is just for a sewer drain, it is fine as it is not under pressure like a water line.

3rd issue: So now the orange toilet flange is installed. It was off about a 1/2 inch but that's all I felt comfortable cutting off of my new coupler. Thankfully the rubber boot on the black tank is forgiving. I was quite surprised as to how thin the wall is on the black tank. I digress. The new issue is the first hole in the floor made by the manufacturer is now exposed when I install my dometic 320 toilet. I took a pic and you see the new orange flange with the hole in the floor behind it. I put a 1x4 under the hole and screwed it down. I will create a template to add a second piece of wood on top of the piece you see in the pic. That will hopefully level it up enough for me to put my scrap piece of matching vinyl flooring on top.

I swear I am the son of Murphy. Every step seems to create another problem. I'm sure there is an expert out there that could have guided me along with a better way to do this but posting on here did flush anyone out so I guess I'm the first to document these issues, maybe not.

I want to install a bidet and a new toilet in our RV, so thanks for sharing your install. You may think there was a better way, but I'm not seeing it.

I have already installed a bidet in my home and it works well. The connectors you see in the pic are sharkbites:

This is the model Bidet I am installing: Brondell Bidet - Thinline SimpleSpa SS-150 | Fresh Water Spray | Non-Electric | Bidet Toilet Attachment in White with Self Cleaning Nozzle | SafeCore Internal Valve | Nozzle Guard | Easy to Install

tip for tighting bolts on toilet

Ok, maybe this is common knowledge but it wasn't to me. The 2 bolts that hold the pot down will spin when trying to tighten the nut down on top. After fiddling around with it for a bit I thought to lean the toilet so that it creates pressure on the bolt head in the flange. Tightened right down. Duh.

Bidet arrives tomorrow. Finally. Water ready to go so should be simple, right? LOL

bidet installed on new dometic 320 toilet

Finally finished. Bidet installed. If the 320 had fit my 310 footprint, the whole job including installing Bidet wouldn't have taken more than an hour. Here are two pics of Bidet installed.
