Talking HELP! How To Manually Use Slide Out & In Need Of Wiring Guide & Owners Manual

I just bought a used 1997 Sandpiper with Slide Out and Awning. The travel trailer it self is in amazing condition however, I did just find out today that the wiring hook up to use a generator for power has been cut clean and looks like all the wires maybe usable and they cut right at connector. So I need to know, where to get the connector and does anyone know of a way to manually get the slide out moving to the full extension range and back in? And i need to know where i can get new locks and keys. Also if anyone happens to have a wiring guide for this style/model travel trailer and or even the owner's manual they could copy or send me a PDF or word document of, that would be wonderful! Thanks Everyone!

Congrats and WELCOME!!! I can't help with you manuals, but have you checked the "Library Section" in the green bar at the top? You may find some manuals that appy there. Good Luck.

There are manuals in the FAQ Forum for just about everything as well.
http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/downloads.php

Wiring diagrams are a bit more difficult because the manufacturer uses "shop drawings" to wire the campers. Wire colors can vary greatly based on what they have on hand in that gauge at the time the camper is built (it seems).

A few generic wiring diagrams are available in the FAQ that have been discovered by members.

The baggage door keys are most likely CH-751 keys and are literally EVERYwhere. Find a friend with a camper and borrow one to copy. MOst every camper in the world uses the same key.

The door keys can be made for you at a dealership provided you have the VIN and the owner's card (I have heard).

Are you saying they cut the wires from the male plug of the shore power to the converter?

In the back room, on the left if your looking toward the front on the trailer, at floor level there is a hole in the wall and at that point where the male plug would lead outside all the wires are cut clean.

I am sure you can get the baggage keys from eBay (CH-751 | eBay) but I am pretty sure you will need to prove ownership to get the correct entry and deadbolt keys for the doors.

You could also replace the door locks:

So the male plug is gone and just a hole in the wall? If that's the case, you should be able to buy the receptacle with the plug and re-attach the existing wires.

Well not sure but I assume you have a hole in the rig where a 30 amp power receptacle should be such as:

There should be labels on the pins... Black to HOT, White to Neutral, Green to Ground.

Jonathan, So the shore power cord was cut off at the camper? Is that what you are saying?

Is it a 50 amp camper or a 30 amp camper? Look at the main power panel and read the amps of the largest sized breaker in there.

I am going to say it is probably 30 amp.
There is a black, white, and green wire.

Black is 110 volt AC "Hot" and the White is 110 volt AC "Neutral"
The Green is "Ground"

This pigtail can be directly connected to the junction box that the original cord was connected to.

Slide out operation

On this year ( I am assuming) it would be using standard 12v motors to drive the gear/spindle assembly. On the side opposite the slide find underneath the rig the motor that drives the slide out. Looking around the slide out motor mechanism there will be either a socket type or bolt type end to one of the gears. (our older rig had a handle extension for this) - Using an extension handle or socket you should be able to slowly turn the gearing/motor mechanism to get the slide out to operate out/in. It will take a lot of work to move (very little progress for each turn) but you can move it all the way out and back.

This is what our manual slide out crank handle used to look like.

Huh in mine under the fridge there's what looks like a the motor that pushes the slide out and it has like a jack handle with it but I don't know what that is. Still trying to get down there today and snap some pics.

This is the mechanical piece that moves the slide out. I unloosened the thumb nut above the jack piece and jacked it a lot tile and the slide out came all the way in but I haven't figured out how to get it to go out yet. also I found out that the previous owners removed the fuse box so ill have to find another one of those.

Don't know if you can see but this is where I'm guessing the fuse box should be.
