Looking at purchasing a 35 ROK

Hello Sandpipers! I'm looking at a 2015 Sandpiper 35 ROK. Any comments, suggestions, problems, don't do it . Any help appreciated. by the way my tow vehicle would be a 2011 3500 gmc sierra 6.0 gasser 4x4 with 4.10 gears.

Thanks in advance.

BTW my Rockwood is for sale and in excellent condition! Wife looking for a bigger home away from home.

What was your questions?

Threads can get buried pretty fast here and then they get missed.

Do you have a link to your thread?

If you were asking specific info on a certain make and model "it's possible" that no one with your same model seen it.

I seem to remember one guy who was asking about a certain model and was upset no one was answering him.
Turns out he was the very first one on here with that model.

35ROK

We ordered the 35ROk from our rv show here in Mpls in Feb. It came in at the end of april. We have since towed it out to Colorado and the black hills for 2 weeks. No major problems. It has been good to us so far.

We bought a 35 ROK last April, we have since camped in it around 35 nights. We love it but it does have its quirks, like all the slides on one switch, dumb idea, and the friction entrance door, plus a noisy refrig. But it has tons of room and the king bed and full size shower are great. It's a big sucker but easy to pull, I have an F350 diesel. Don't know about pulling this thing with a gasser. With all the junk I have in mine I'm pushing the scales between 13 and 14K. You might be able to watch the gas gauge go down! I get about 11.5 pulling it around 70 mph. Haven't had any major problems with it other than the rear air didn't work at first, turned out to be a disconnected wire. The outside kitchen is great and the drop down TV out there is great for watching sports (NHL Hockey) around the fire. Lots of storage too! Not much room for the grand kids to sleep but if you want that, get one with bunks. Hope this helps a little!

2014Sandpiper35ROK

We purchased a new 2014 35ROK in February, this year. Have made one trip to coast, 3.5 hrs away. Pulling with 2003 2500HD Silverado, CC with short bed and slider hitch, Diesel and Allison Trans. This trailer pulls great. I do not have the Airborne pin or a hitch with any shocks or air bags, but I understand it also makes a world of difference for the trailer and driver.
Anyway, to get to your question..We absolutely love this unit. It has all the comforts of a small home. Large living area, fireplace, tons of windows, walk in shower, king bed, practically a walk in closet, tons of storage in and out.
And yes, you will find things that make you wonder what were they thinking, such as,, no light switch's beside entry door ????, closest switch to door operates the ceiling fan.. go figure!!
The bath sink is hard to use because the medicine cabinet covers it by sticking out so far.(I tried to get a smaller replacement through FR, but have been told that this is the only one available, so wait for warranty to run out and then replace with one of my choosing)
Couple of things we have to deal with with since our solo trip in March are:
The theater seating was not bolted to the floor and it kept tipping forward, Have since bolted in down, (if you can get the optional LazBoy recliners, I would go with those).
Leaky kitchen faucet, (has been fixed), slides adjusted, changed the 3 step entry to a quad step.
Have a 30amp hookup at home, so I run the a/c's on occasion (one at a time) since the unit is a 50amp.
The 15K unit compressor has gone out and is currently in shop for warranted replacement (no biggie, stuff happens).
Would we buy this unit again, Absolutely. We have had a 2012 Shasta, 2013 Salem and now a 2014 Sandpiper and it is the best yet.
Don't know what kind of price you are being quoted, and I know I paid too much for mine, but they are all over the internet for around $43,000.00. Mine retailed for $63,000.00 with the options that came with it (according to the dealer, it has about everything although my research tells me different). I won't say what I paid, but if I had done some additional research, could have saved at least another $10,000.00. But hey...my dealer is 15 minutes away.
Also, check the tires for brand and manufacture date. Some are just better than others. Mine came with MasterTrack, built in 2013, so I am good with this. I also added a monitoring system to check the trailer and truck when towing. (Lots of info about tires and systems on the forum).
Not sure what to suggest about the tow vehicle. Although your truck has strong towing and weight capabilities, this trailer is a heavy rascal, pin weight alone at around 2400lb. Run the numbers, all kinds of help on the forum on how to do this. I did and I am comfortable with my tow truck.
The best camping seasons are now coming upon us, so get that 35ROK and enjoy it. You will not regret it!!

Wow, you guys were great with all the information. $43K is what I was quoted. The only sad thing is may be leaving the forum as I am close to purchasing a 2015 Heartland bighorn elite. We made an unbelievable deal and this unit is beautiful. I like the sandpiper but decided the bighorn elite met exactly what we wanted.

Interested in seeing a 35ROK up close and personal, but there are no Sandpiper dealers nearby. Are there any other FR brands that offer a similar model?

Sierra makes an exact duplicate under their name. They are built on the same FR assembly line. Don't know what their model number is though.

Hey Nemosdad, I'm Looking at purchasing a metal building. I'm assuming you store yours in the building behind your camper. What size did you order?

I had the same problem. Do you have a 2nd air conditioner in that front bedroom? Mine had a loose power wire to it so it wouldn't come on. Tightened it up and voila, it worked!
