New 381RBOK Owners?
Hello All,
We have a 381RBOK on order and will be picking it up in just about 3-4 weeks. Obviously excited and tring to read all I can by other owners. This is our first 5th wheel after just selling our Super C Diesel.
In anticipation of picking it up, I'm in the process of installing a new Demco Hijacker hitch in my truck. However, before I can do that, I need to know the height of the pin box plate to set the hitch at the proper height during installation.
Are there any 381RBOK owners out there that could help me out? Just need the measurement from the ground to the bottom of the pin box plate, of course when the trailer is sitting nice and level.
Your help would be greatly appreciated!!! Along with any other words of wisdom regarding the walk through when picking up.
Thanks,
Chris

You are on the same timeframe as me. When did you place your order and how long did your dealer say it would take for delivery? Just curious as I was told 6 weeks and it's been about 3 for me.. I wonder which of us will get theirs first?

Roughly about 3-4 weeks ago, not exactly sure what day it was. Received an email today from dealer, who is updating me every 2 weeks, that said so far production is on schedule and they have been running on time this year.
I also requested dealer go ask their factory rep to get height measurement for hitch but not sure I'll hear back on that one.??
Hoping an existing owner might chime in with the magic number.
Thanks,
Chris

MAKE SURE they bolt the fridge down correctly! Mine fell over en route to the campground a few weeks ago. Now we're not able to go out on spring break because it is in the shop.
Other than that only minor issues and we LOVE it! Got ours in Nov.

Great advice!! Will heed the warning!
You dont recall the height of your pin box plate do you? Installing new hitch this weekend and need to know height of plate to know how to setup hitch.....would be grateful.
Best Regards,
Chris

Chris, this is the list I currently have for when we do our dealer walk through. This has been compiled over the past couple weeks and is purely based on problems I have seen others reporting on their 5'er. This would be in addition to the standard things I have seen in another more comprehensive thread "delivery check" threads.
Awning lights. Make sure the glue is good
Check refer is mounted solid
Is ice maker hooked up
Where is shutoff valve for outdoor kitchen
How to run radio and Bluetooth
Where do all the sinks, showers and toilets drain (black or Greg and which)
Make sure the inverter powers the refer.
Check woodwork
Check seals around shower
Check led bulbs on awning lights
Make sure water heater works on electric
Make sure all burners and oven works

Just to add a few that I didn't notice on mine until we got it home.
1. Check the awning - is it completely tucked into the rail? Mine is pulled out on the left side about 3 inches.
2. Check all LEDs. Missed one that is not working.
3. Check the cheap sound bar to ensure both speakers work. The left speaker on the sound bar itself doesn't work. Had I noticed it at the dealer I would have had them pull one out of another unit. Since I didn't notice it until I got home, I'm not concerned enough to take it back. The sound is not that great anyway, and it still functions fine to run the other speakers (outdoor) which is primarily where it will be used.
3. Check sliding closet doors. Mine are not in the plastic track at the bottom. Will fix it this weekend.
4. Have the dealer re-set the zero point in the auto level. Mine was way off. Easy enough to do yourself.
5. Thoroughly check the exterior for smears of sealant. Had a few places on ours.

Mine was off too but it is quite simple to adjust yourself. And just because you are level don't expect doors to stay where you put them...... :^/

Thanks to everyone for all the tips! I'll be typing these up prior to inspection.....thinking I'll give my wife a separate list to check so we can knock it out a little quicker.
I'll be honest, some of the reviews I've been reading about new FR/Sandpipers has me concerned about what to expect from a quality perspective. Sounds like these are sloppily built with little to no final quality checks before they hit the road.
Not trying to set myself up for failure but it appears I might be better off not reading too much more until Impick it up.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone!

I am currently out of the country, but will be back in town on Friday and heading out in the sandpiper. I will check my pin box height when I get ready to hook up on Friday and let you know.

Nothing is built like it used to be. Cars, homes, RVs, insert item here.......

I'll get you numbers in our driveway and numbers at the site tomorrow evening. The driveway is not too level, so I am hoping that the site will be better numbers for you.
Not the same model, but I am guessing the pin height should be the same.

Was ~52" just before it slid into the ball. I didn't think about it before hand, but I have an Andersen hitch so it could sit different. I did measure to the bottom of the pin box, and not the bottom of the Andersen adapter.
I hope that helps, but with the different hitch it may not.

Jealous! I have been told mine comes off the production line Friday.. Hoping the dealer get it to Omaha and prepped quickly (yet done well). I fear it will still be a couple weeks before I can take delivery. Please keep this thread posted with your first impressions!

Check everything with a fine tooth comb! Mine has been in for warranty work for 2 months now and I probably won't get it back until almost May.

I definitely plan to spend a lot of time doing the inspection..... But is there anyway you can share the big outstanding problems you are still having? It would be great to have a heads up on those big items.
Thanks in advance!
Chris
