I have 2 years of solid numbers. I take mileage and gallonage at every fill up. I don't get fuel unless I fill to maintain an accurate record. 13.1-3 ish overall. 15-16 without a trailer in tow and 8-11 with a trailer. 11 F350, 6.7, crewcab, SRW, long bed and 4x4. Everything on it is stock, I'm waiting for the extended warranty and maintenance plan to expire before I do some tinkering. Namely an onboard tuner and quite possibly a DEF delete. I don't feel the need for added HP but I certainly wouldn't turn away bypassing a gas station or 3.

1245 miles w/o load. Required two fill ups. Results of the truck computer vs. manual fuel economy calculation.

Leg 1 w/o cruise control:
Computer - 36.2 gals used 655.4 miles = 18.1 MPG
Manually - pumped 34.2 gals (filled it the same way), 655.4 miles = 19.16 MPG
From Virginia headed south/west on I81/I40. Had 19 MPG on computer until I hit the mountains then it dropped. This was driving the speed limit +/- 5 MPH.

Leg 2 with cruise control:
Computer - 35 gals used 589.8 miles = 16.8 MPG
Manually - pumped 33.6 gals, 589.9 miles = 17.5 MPG
Tennessee to TX using the cruise control set at the speed limit. +/- 5 MPH to pass or allow others to pass. Also the computer reported 17 MPG steady until we entered TX with the 75 MPH speed limit.

So you are getting 18-19mpg without towing anything, and you say you are getting 15-17mpg towing a 371? I'm sorry, but I think your towing calculations are off.

If read closely I think it's all without load. At least that's my impression.

Leathernek's post #14 states he gets 15-17 towing a 371REBH, going posted speed limit (I'm assuming 65-70) and not using cruise control. His last trip was same circumstances with the exception he wasn't towing a 14k-15k fifth wheel and only got 19 at best. I think his previous towing calculations are off. If they aren't, he's the only one on this forum that is getting those kinds of figures from a stock truck, towing a 40'+ 5er with any make of truck. I could baby the hell out of my truck and get 11avg (towing a 365saq) at best and towed it for thousands of miles.

I misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about just the one post. My bad. I understand you know.

And depending on the length of the trip my time is worth something so pedal to the metal! Seriously though the difference between babying it and enjoying extra time at the camp is worth not worrying about the 1 or 2 mpg loss.

It's all good. Yes that's no load and babying the throttle. Nice to stop for fuel only once on a 1245 mile trip. 15-17 MPG towing is what I remember from this summer, looking the truck's computer. And yes babying it on flat interstate runs. Leaving TX on Saturday and it will be pedal to the metal (no load) so will post those numbers too.
