Remove carpet when installing washer / dryer combo?

We are installing a washer dryer combo in our Samdpiper 5th wheel. It will be in the closet. Has anyone removed the carpet under the washer when installing or just on the carpeted floor of closet? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

Being a retired plumber, I would remove the carpet, and place some type of drip pan under the washer.....I have seen far too many washer leaks that destroyed flooring under them. (In residential uses.) In a moving, shaking mobile RV, probably even more important. just my opinion.

I removed carpet installed a drain pan and installed the proper hold downs on the front legs. No movement and any leaks drain outside.

This is what I would do as well.

They make a tray with drain sized perfectly for the Splendide units. I just drilled a hole in closet floor and ran hose into front storage area and down one of the stabilizer Jack holes.

I wondered about that when I got the new Silverback with factory installed washer/ dryer, where did you get the tray from?

A pan might be good prevention but your biggest chance of a leak/flood using a washer in a RV is your grey tank filling up.

If this happens the water will overflow out of your lowest point which will most likely be your shower.

Best prevention is to keep an eye on levels or even better keep your grey water open when doing laundry.

Saw someone that flooded his RV last week; his wife started a load of laundry and didn't tell him, they went for a walk and when they came back water was coming out of the bottom of the fifth wheel......
