sleeping on a brick

The sheets for our Queen sized bed in the trailer came in today so I washed them and put them on then lay on the bed and yuck, it's so hard and uncomfortable. It's a Sealy, but it must not be a good one.

I need suggestions on whether to get a good foam mattress topper or a different mattress. Thanks!

We upgraded the mattress in our RV when we ordered it and it still sucked for us. We picked up a 4" memory foam/pillow top mattress cover from Kohls. Originally it was something crazy like $450, but on sale and with Kohl's cash, our outlay was something like $100-150.

It's now actually our preferred bed!

A side note- Kohls also carries wide-bottom zero gravity chairs. Again, expensive until they're on sale. Super comfortable- we fight over them.

Suggest a topper 1st, a bit less cash than a full mattress and will probably solve your problem. Worked for us and plenty of others. Walmart to Camping world, plenty of choices. If your matteress is short queen, easy to trim.

Thanks, I wanted to make sure that was the way to go. I would hate to buy a new mattress and it still be uncomfortable. I saw one at Overstock.com for a good price and free shipping which is good because I'll need two.
I'm hoping when my husband gets off on the 20th that the weather cooperates and we can take it out on our first trip. Ought to be interesting, we've never owned a camper before so hooking up everything will be an adventure.

A number us like the Perfect Harmony Topper from Camping World. $150.00 for the short queen. Once I added this to our mattress, I did not feel it necessary to replace the mattress. We find it very comfortable. 2" of foam and 2" of pillow top.

Welcome to the forum. Always good information here.

We tried a little bit of everything to make our mattress comfortable and thought since it was an upgraded Serta it was a "comfortable" one. i looked online at the mattress model code and found it was a serta mattress made for motels! After almost 18months of toppers and and everything else we gave up and went to a furniture store and spent $700 on a real mattress and put it in our camper. We do so enjoy camping so much more now. I admit that is a lot for a "camper mattress" but when you are in your '60s and wake up sore it just ruins the whole trip. I think my wife put it best. Life is too short to spend our travel times not resting comfortably so ........

Oh yeah, if you go to our sons house and stay the night let him know the mattress in his spare bedroom is way to uncomfortable to sleep on

We got a 3" mem foam topper from costco, $110 or so last year, comes with a cover to hold it in place. WOW! It was so good we got one for our house bed too.

I bought a 4 inch serta mattress topper and it's really comfy. I bought a cheaper one for the other bed but it isn't so great. I'll have to get another one or add a 2 inch topper because it was only 2 inches. Most of that was the egg shell type fingers sticking up.

We got the same deal at Costco and it is a night and day difference. Previously after two nights I would have had all I could take sleeping on the mattress that came with the TT. We spent 7 nights over Spring Break and I was just as comfortable as being at home. Wish I have found that Costco deal earlier, could have save myself $1900.

We went the whole enchilada and found a Queen for $500 and then got a bunch of great closeout deals on their 700 thread count sheet sets. 2 sets for all 5 beds and memory foam pillows for all the beds for just under $900. Sheets are not cheap.

We ended up with the same mattress as we have in our home!!
