Could just make the upper mount pinned.

For that matter its a little more work but you could pin both ends for complete removal.

The pinch pad idea is more to keep from having to weld to the hydraulic pad. I'm figuring if I can create a pad the will envelope the foot pad of the hydraulics, it should do the same job as mounting directly to it.
