Upgrading Tires

I have the factory delivered/installed 16" E rated tires but would like to install the Goodyear Unisteel G614 RST. Anyone out there know whether or not the factory installed rims will handle a G rated tire? Tire pressure cold goes from 80# to 100#

Check the inside (backside) of your wheels. If aluminum, the wheel size & max PSI should be cast in one of the spokes (mine were).

BTW, I did upgrade to the G614's @ 100 lbs. My rims were rated at 110 psi.

Neighbors wheels were not. He went with Carlisle LR F rated and keeps them at 90#. I just sold the Trailer Kings to my tire dealer and bought 5 Carlisle 235/80R16 LRE just like on the last 5er.

I just went with the G614 on my 365SAQB. the factory wheels were 100psi rated. it is stamped on the inside. 2000miles on them so far. Love the confidence in knowing good tires are on the trailer.

Sailun- made in China. Just sayin. I had some on my concrete mixer booster and they didn't even last 1 year before shredding apart and sidewall bulging. Pure garbage. The company tried to save some $ and it backfired on them.

The Goodyear G614 LT235/85R16G at 3750# of load capacity is a very good upgrade for your trailer’s GAWR ratings. However, it will be expensive when done correctly. The steel cased G614 has a single rim size requirement, 6.5”. Most tires have a rim range, the steel cased 16” tires do not. The new rims need to be certified for the 3750# load capacity and 110 psi rating. Steel valve stems are also required.

Here is a reference to a typical rim for those tires. I have zero affiliation with this rim maker, it’s just a reference. Many others are made by other manufacturers.

TR8 | Sendel Wheels

Will the larger tire fit into the wheelwell? Will the distance between tires on the axles be adequate?

I don't normally recommend LT tires to replace ST tires. However, most G614 tires have an RST on their sidewall indicating they were manufactured for "Regional Service Trailer" applications.

When I tried to upgrade my E rated tires last year to the Sailuns, A nationwide search found 0 availability in the sizes needed for my 340RK. Rumors were going around that Sailun was making changes at the factory and there was a shortage of supply.
I went for the more costly G614 G rated for my 5'r and could not be happier. Yes, they were more expensive, but what a difference from the Westlake E rated.
My rims are stamped for 110psi, but for some reason the previous owner replaced the factory tires with Westlake 80psi E rated tires.
Using the G614 G rated, my 5'r tows far better and I don't cringe during backing maneuvers watching those E rated tires fold over. Just did a 600 mile travel and couldn't be happier.
