Water leak in 2013 365 SAQ ???

Hello guys well I went in to open up the camper for the season and found the drawer front under the frig had cracked and warped. After further investigation I found some mold on the inside of the drawer and on the bottom of the plywood that the frig sits on. Then after a little more detective work felt some dampness in the carpet across from the fridge over by the dinette. The camper has been off, no power 12v or 120v no propane and everything was off so I doubt the moisture is from defrosting the frig 4 months ago. I'm wondering if it could have come in the rear frig panel on the side of the camper we did have a hard wind driven rain about 5 days ago. It just seems odd that mold would grow that fast. Anyone else experience anything like this. I have the frig pulled out and I'm now pulling my hair out as well. Any comments on getting rid of the mold advise or moral support would be great.

Thanks Marc

It can definitely come in those fridge vents. This will happen occasionally when you wash your RV if your not careful. It is very possible that the wind drove the rain in.

Just dry it out and keep an eye on it.

Vin.

Sorry to hear about this Marc, but yes, the water could've came in through that vent if the rain was blown at the right angle. That vent cover on the outside only protects what is coming almost straight down. Check the drawer underneath the fridge if your has one. Also, either lay down or take a mirror and look at the bottom of the wood between the fridge and the drawer and see if it has water stains on it. It is very possible that it all came in though that. We found a little water in the floor after washing ours early on when one of us accidentally shot a large stream of water though the vent several times. I would also check the vent in the roof above the fridge just to make sure that no water came in through a partially opened or cracked vent.
Either way, I would put some Damp-Rid or a floor fan in the camper for several days to see if you can dry it out.

The drawer and the bottom of the frig platform are both wet and have some mld starting on them. That's what upset me was that we had very little but none the less mold spots starting. Anyway that's my plan a good bleach soaking and dehumidifier and blower treatment.

For the unpainted/stained wood under the fridge, I would put kill the mold with bleach and then put a coat or two of anti-mold paint down on it to help seal it. Also, check your drain hose from the fridge that is supposed to go outside. Theoretically, if the coils sweated any over the winter, that may be where your moisture came from and provided a length of time for the mold to grow. I put the bug screens on my vent, so I drilled a hole in the face of the face of the vent and ran the drain tubing out through it. That way I know it drains outside.

If your vent tube goes outside the cover, it is supposed to have a p trap formed in it to keep heat, etc from going inside and go out thru one of the vent holes in the top of the cover, not the middle or lower vents.

Found no p trap in the wire loom looking drain so changed that to a vinyl tube p trapped that then treated the mold, used a sealer/primer to cover the affected wood. While in the hole painting looked up to see sunlight went up on the roof to find a 3" hole in the fridge vent cover wala leak source found. Ordered a camco replacement and hopefully this chapter is closed....
