We must not have been paying close enough attention during our walk through or they forgot to mention it, but what does this valve below the water filter do? We had it closed when we were winterizing it at one point & a little water was filling the water filter & when we opened it water gushed in. We figure it's something to do with the water filter but aren't sure. The manual is no help, it's just very generic. Any info on what this valve is/does would be appreciated! Thanks!

Looks just like our camper. Our RV rep told us it was a hot water heater bypass valve. Stops the antifreeze from entering the heater when sucking antifreeze from the jug while winterizing.

The person who did our walk through said the red valve at the top left was the hot water heater bypass.......there was so much to learn at the walk through its hard to learn them all in an hour it two & it's hard when the manual is general & not specific to your make/model, just a general TT/5th wheel, so not a help on things like this.

Yes you are right. The RV rep showed us two valves one to bypass the hot water heater and one to let the hose suck it out of the jug. There is no way to learn everything you need know about a camper in 1 or 2 hrs, and like you said the manual does not help alot. I have learned a great deal from reading this forum site.

I had the same question recently and this valve should be in the closed position to winterize from the winterizing kit. Closed- the water pump pulls from the anti-freeze jug (white hose). Open- the water pump pulls from the water tank for the faucets normal use when using the tank. You have a hot water heater bypass to close when winterizing. The winterizing works great with this option. Never owned a camper before and took me 15 mins. to winterize by myself. Took around 3 1/2 gallons and then filled traps with the rest of the 4th gallon.

No problem. I actually stumped the service tech with this question as well. Took him 3 hours to find the answer. He thought it had to do with the water filter, but after I dumped the water filter canister anti freeze, I hooked up a hose and the canister filled up with the valve closed. That pretty much told me they didn't know. So fortunately they found the correct answer. We wanted to use it bad enough to de-winterize, then winterize again 4 days later. The amount of anti-freeze was for our Sandpiper 365SAQ.

Our tech who did our walk through might have said what it was for, but their was so much info in such a short amount of time, its overwhelming!!! This one is soooooooo much easier to winterize then our old TT, that was a couple hour process, this one took less than 15 minutes!!! Now getting the cover on...thats another story, lol!!!

We had an '11 355QBQ last year for the winter. This was our first time winterizing tour '12 365SAQ. I had no idea what this valve was either. Took me a while to figure it out too. Finally got up enough nerve to turn it and see what happened. It worked! Guess I should've came back to forum a little more often Anyway, worked like a charm an used almost 6 gallons to winterize mine as mine has the outside kitchen and w/d prep. Once I figured it out, didn't take long at all!
