2014 Forest River 355RE holding tank question.

My daughter and her husband just got a 2014 Forest River 355RE Sierra from his brother. On the control panel, is shows the black, gray and fresh water tank levels and there is a switch for the black water tank level indicating two tanks. He told me that in one position, the tank sensors show that there is contents in it. Switching it to the other position, it always shows empty. Looking at the specs, it says there are 2 gray water tanks for a total of 108 gallons, a fresh water tank with a total of 64 gallons and one black water tank with a total of 54 gallons. Anyone give any incite for the two position switch that says black water?

Can you get him to take a picture of the panel and then post it?
The switch should be for the grey water tanks if the panel doesn't have separate switches for the grey and galley tanks. However, it could be wired to switch between one of the grey tanks and the black tank.

Here is the picture of his panel. You can see that the black tank has a rocker switch for 1 and 2.

are there two toilets installed? are they installed far enough apart that each one would require its own tank? are there two black tank drains? they would be the 3" drains. that's the only reason why i would think that you would have a switch for two black tanks.

i suspect that forest river has several layouts for this control panel and they use the one that best matches what they are building. it may not be exact. on our trailer the panel has an indicator for the 'galley' tank. after much searching i discovered that that was a tank for the washer drain. our might be a similar situation where they just used what they had rather than make a panel unique to your layout. i guess the only way to know for sure is to fill one tank at a time while monitoring the level indicators to determine which tank is responding.

I'm with ChhickDoe, I think they use the panel on several different units and yours doesn't happen to have the second black tank. It's cheaper for them to stock one panel with more functions than are installed than to stock several specialized panels. You just wind up with a switch that doesn't do anything.

Maybe remove the panel and see if wire is going to both terminals.

By the looks of the floorplan, 1 bathroom therefore, 1 black tank. As mentioned, common control panel used by Forest River in multiple designs of RV's.

Leave the rocker switches pushed in at the top unless you have 2 sewer, 2 galley and 2 gray water tanks.

You don’t have (2) Blk tanks on that unit but the panel is used in many different models that may have (2) Blk tanks . Tank (1) is what you need to put switch to
