Funny how forest river handles things on a case by case basis.. They just did mine at no out of pocket cost at all. No labor cost.. Didnt even have to travel to my dealer who was an hour and a half away.. Did it at local dealers shop.. But goid for you.. 300 isnt too bad .. But again this should be the standard axle put under these heavy units..

I agree and find it very odd. I have a 2013 also just like you Rtazz and got approval for the work, but for parts and labor being done at my dealer. Given that it seems people are having the axels replaced at no cost to them I would press them a little and see if you can't save yourself the $300. I'd be interested to hear their reasoning and double standard. Ultimately it's really not at no cost anyway unless your dealer is on your doorstep. I have a 4 hour tow to mine and just hoping I can schedule the work for a Saturday. Otherwise it will be an unpaid day off and, regardless of the day, will be the fuel cost of an 8 hour round trip. And if the work cannot be completed in a day for one reason or another, could include the cost of overnight. Yes, I am thankful for the replacement being done, don't get me wrong, I just wish they would treat their customers equal.

I would lean on the dealer a little to find out where that $300 is coming from. The axle swap on mine is being done as "warranty work" from FR and I would not expect to pay anything for warranty work to be done.

I thought the same thing, although I was told my dealer had to supply the labor to do it. I really didn't care as long as they were changed out to the correct ones. I still have a very good relationship with my dealer after all of this was said and done.

I think forest river will not pay labor because 1 my unit is out of warranty ( even though I did notify of my concerns while still under warranty) and 2 the work is being done by a dealer that is not a forest river dealer. I don't want to push so hard they pull the offer off the table.

My work was done by a non forest river dealer. I was in warranty but its still strange. No set protocol just case by case and some are just outright denied.Simple solution fir FR is put 7 k axles right off the bat but something that makes sense is normally not done in the rv industry.

That's great. Hope everything goes as planed. My axles and related parts were ordered Thursday so I hope to have them done as soon as they are in. Luckily my unit is already at the dealer. Good luck.

Thanks. I have about a 375 mile round trip so I hope all goes to plan so I don't need to make another trip. Keeping the faith in the dealer!! Should be fine. Can't wait to get back in the driveway and cover for a little while more before the season starts.

Please make sure the wheels are there as well as your wheels will not fit the 7k axles! Just don't want you to make the trip for nothing!!

Good point and thanks. Made sure to confirm that with the service manager this week. New wheels and tires are mounted.
Will let you know how it goes.

Good deal!
Question - when did this process start for you? Everything started rolling for me on 12/13/13 and have not heard anything from my dealer. I'm not in a hurry, just wondering more what the time frame was between them starting the process and getting the parts in.

UPDATE:
Got to the dealer at 8.25am. Pulled the camper into the service bay at 8.40. Went to a diner down the street and over breakfast made plans of how to fill the day while waiting. Got in the truck at 9.50 after breakfast and got a call from the dealer. 'Camper will be ready in about 10 mins'. WHAT!! Went back to the dealer and the job was done. In fact the tech was adjusting my awning fabric when I got back as it was rolling up unevenly. 1 hour and 20 mins start to finish. EXEPTIONAL service done with a smile and very tidy work. Axles, wheels, tires and spare. I was shocked at the timeframe as from what I heard was expecting at least half a day job. We spent almost longer looking at campers on the lot than it took to do the work. Back home and covered again by 3.30pm. Great Day. Stoltzfus RV in Adamstown, PA.

I just checked. I emailed FR on 12/4/13 and followed up with a call on 12/6/14. They approved it over the phone and asked my to give my dealer the email they would send me with the contact information for them to get the parts. My dealer got in touch the same week, from what I understand, and the parts arrived to them on Wednesday of last week. So I guess about 5 to 6 weeks from approval to the parts getting there.

Must have been just like mine. Swap axles only with no welding needed. Did you notice a difference in the way the camper tows now???

I do think it was a little more solid. Not that it wasn't rock solid on the road before as most 5ers are, but maybe less roll on corners. Towed great anyway that's the main thing. New wheels look great too which is a bonus.
Also got to go in almost every Sandpiper floorplan available on their lot which was cool.
