Extended warranty form

Attached is the extended warranty form from forest river. The coverage cost $250 and needs to be sent in with a check within 10 days of delivery/PDI

I had to call Wayne (574.533.5934) at Forest River and he emailed me the form. Click image for larger version

Interesting! We were never offered such. It says $150. Is that what you are paying. For the money it's probably well worth it.
I like the part that says floor, sub floor squeaks excluded. So if your Lino bubbles and your subfloor squeaks its not covered because that's not related to the subfloor that 'they' mean. I hope it works out and I especially hope you never have to use it off course. I just have a hard time with extended warranties. It's always the thing that goes wrong that's not covered. Been there! But for that money and for what's in black and white it's worth it. I wonder if there is any small print relating to what parts of the water heater are covered or are not. Or slides? Is everything covered. I'd certainly clarify that some of the more likely items that fail are covered. Motors on slide and awning etc.

this is constantly talked about here on the Forum and there's always a current post about. surprised you haven't seen all the other threads about it.

that's why we have a Sticky with all the info on it here on FRF.

I haven't been all that long on the forum and always use the mobile app so that's probably why I did not see before. You would think it would be something FR would offer to every buyer at purchase instead of chasing them for it. For the price I doubt many would pass it up.

We bought our new 5er on 01/04/14....dealer gave us the form to sign....finance guy had filled in the VIN #, etc. We brought it home and promptly forgot about it.

Remembered it on the 13th day, mailed it in and got the FR signed copy back today, so yes, they will allow a little fudging over that 10 day deadline.

Oh, and it costs $150.00.

And yes, we bought the 2nd year coverage for our last RV too....V-Lite 30WIKSS, but didn't keep it long enough to even use it....8 months....then upgraded.

zoom in on that pdf file above. It's printed on that form by Forest River....$150.00

I'm holding our returned copy in my hands right now...$150.00, in the paragraph right beneath where the dealer information is to be filled in.

Has Wayne sent you the form? If so, is $250.00 printed on yours? I've been on this forum for 8 months and this is the first I've heard of the 2nd year being more than $150.00.

If you do a search of the forum you'll find posts where people have said that FR allowed the buyer to purchase that second year coverage quite a while past the 10 day limit if the dealer didn't inform them it was available.

FTR, we used the same dealer, same salesman, same finance guy at the dealer's office and both times he offered the 2nd year coverage and even filled it all out for us. All we had to do is sign it, write the check and mail it.

Hmmm this paragraph is interesting;

All repairs made under this Optional Warranty Program are to be made by and authorized Forest River, Inc. Dealer or Authorized Service Center.

Never noticed that before. I guess that means they won't allow you to repair and be reimbursed for expenses on anything happening in the second year.

I would take the whole statement on what's covered with a huge pinch off salt. As I said earlier in the thread I would be very interested in reading the small print as to what's actually covered under each listed part, appliance, or system. I wonder if they can provide a breakdown to that effect. I'm sure they are not going to cover that list 'no questions asked'. Any warranty rarely if ever does. Does fault play a part? You run your water heater without water in it.....is it covered when you fry it? I doubt it. And tires are listed generically. Is a blowout covered? Not only the tire but all the damage it often does to your wheel arch, trim and camper side.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been disappointed when you expect the extended warranty you paid for at purchase does not cover something you thought it would. Mine was on a vehicle. As I say. There's got to be a lot of small print somewhere! Not to say its not worth the $150 or even $250. I think it undoubtedly is. But there's more to it I'm sure

I think price does depend on model. I will call Wayne tomorrow and let you all know. Either way for what we pay for these 5ers it's short money for another year piece of mind.

It is worth every penny, I used mine up and got back way more then the 150 I payed for it. As far as the 10 day thing I called FR 6mos after delv. and they still did mine in 30 mins, over the phone. It will not cover floors as stated but 99% of the rest. If I wanted to do the repair myself I had to send a picture of the damage to the dealer who will make the request. When he gets the part he will mail it to you, Only once they asked for a returned part and that was my hot water heater stat. I had 3 or 4 things repaired under it. Now it is over on the 10th of this month. They are replacing a topper when I get back from Florida at the end of the month. But they made the request to FR in January, to get it covered under the second year. All FR products are not covered with the second year depending on your brand, also they do have different prices depending on models.

Thanks leencharlotte and gljurczyk for solving the 150 vs 250 puzzle.

Yep, it appears that either way, that 2nd year coverage is well worth the money.
