Is Tire Support Necessary?

I have a 2000 Forest River Sierra. The trailer is firmly resting on blocks. There are solid supports just in front and just in back of the tires. I don't plan to move the trailer for many years. The tires are slightly submerged in mud and gravel. Does anyone know if it is OK to dig out the dirt and gravel around the tires so they are no longer supporting the trailer? I want to protect the tires from deteriorating if possible.

Just take them off, clean, coat with 303, wrap in a garbage bag and store in a cool, dry place.

Thanks OldCoot. I just wanted to make sure that I did not need to leave the tires on to support the trailer. Not sure what the manufacture recommends. I'll dig out the gravel and mud to get them airborn, then will take them off for storage. Thanks again!
