furnace stopped working

The same thing happened to us right after we picked it up last March. Wanted to see how everything worked so we were going to spend the night in our driveway. Furnace was working fine and I woke up in the middle of the night and it was very cold in the camper. It did the same thing as your! It would not start back up, so I went into the house and looked at it the morning. Checked everything and found nothing wrong! Hooked it up and went to the dealer. They determined it was the "High Limit Switch" in the furnace. They had the replacement part and it has worked great ever since!

I think they might have froze? No feedback from the OP since noon yesterday? Hope they come back and tell us what the problem was. Awful lot of suggestions, be nice to know which one helped?

It could be one of at least a dozen different problems, most of them mentioned. You can guess at it forever.......or find the service manual for your specific model of furnace, read and understand the "sequence of operation", and then follow the troubleshooting charts.

Here is the link to one which may or may not be for your particular model however the charts on pages 27 and 28 will be relatively the same.

I second the dirt wasps. I had that problem too. The furnace worked half a camping trip then just stopped. I had to pull it when we got home and clean out all the mud from the exhaust. Now I buy the metal grate exhaust covers and keep them on so I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks for all of the tips, everyone. I don't have the answer yet, I removed the unit today and took it to the shop for them to bench test and hopefully fix the issue. So far nothing else has worked. I'll let everyone know what the issue was soon.

Thanks again!

Same thing happened to me. I checked online for a solution and someone said bang on it with a mallet. I thought this was pretty silly, but I got desperate and gave it a try. I'll be darned if it didn't work! So now, when I have the problem, I can pretty much bang on the area around where the exhaust is with my fist and it will work. Sometimes it takes one or two times, but it has always worked.

Not ideal, but I don't have to use the furnace so much that I'm willing to spend the money yet for a permanent fix.

Back to square one.

Shop called me and said they tested the furnace multiple times on two separate days and it was working fine. They suggested that there may be an issue with the thermostat.

Guess I'll reinstall the furnace and see what happens next.

Thermostat ???? the furnace fan would not have started and ran for one min and turned off! Hope you did not lay out to meany dead presidents for there pour diagnoses. Hope it runs when you put the furnace back. If it dose the I would suspect the air flow switch was stuck and freed up when you removed it and was bounced around to the repair shop.

Hope it runs for a long time Tim

Agree.
That or low voltage.
I suggested checking both early on in this thread. Did the OP ever take a voltage reading when the furnace kicked on and monitor what happens until it shuts off?

My father in law has a '96 Dutchman and uses it at the tree lot during Nov Dec in MI. A few years ago we set up and the heat was not working. We had a guy come out and we ended up I think replacing the control board and the thermostat. I forget what the problem was exactly but we had no heat.

Exactly the reason I would not have pulled it and had it bench tested. If it's warranty drag the whole damn thing in and make them do all the labor and figure it out!!
