The head of the bolts are counter sunk in the pad. The kit comes with a countrersink bit to make proper size hole. Just a PIA to drill out trying to keep the pad still.

I had a problem with the spare up and under the front of my Sierra 5th wheel. I also had a under carriage drawer system which I moved back about 4 inches. I also move the location of the spare back about 7 inches. I just added a new 2 in square tube to support the tire underneath and cut the other one off. I cut, drilled and fabricated some angle iron rails to give more support in the front compartment floor pan to hold the new square tube and the mechanism that raises and lowers the spare and the spare and keep it from bouncing. Today is the first time of actually testing the JT Strongarm out. We are camping now and they are working well. The kids just ran through and there wasn't much movement. There still is a tiny bit because of the tires but hardly noticeable. I don't know how I can help you but if pictures or anything would help just let me know.
