OP: You need to post year, make and model if you want help. Without that, nobody knows what we're looking at.

2017 Sierra 401FLX. I was hoping it was for the Hall light - which looks like it can only be controlled from the control panel.

Do you have a ceiling fan? It may be turned off at the chain. Or a vent fan in one of the roof vents like in the bathroom? The roof vent fans in my latest one don't operate until you open the vent.

There is a larger toggle switch just above, and that does control the living room ceiling fan.

The Power vents have their own controls and all work well. Thank you!

In most trailers there is a switch that controls a fixture that has yet another switch on it. I have one in my 5ver, right beside the entry door. Both the wall switch and the fixture switch must be on.

It can drive you nuts, sometimes.

Radio is right. Most times those switches can turn on something like over the bed reading lights or an over dinette light but if the light fixture has a switch on it and it is off, the wall switch does nothing.

Try this

Turn ALL 12V controlled stuff on and than shut the mystery switch. See what happens.

Confused? What if I just disconnect the battery (how do?) - which I would want to do soon anyway?

Who's confused?

I thought you were trying to figure out what the switch controls? If something requires your mystery switch to be on along with another switch than turn all switches on, than the mystery switch off and see if anything shuts off.

Any wires attached to that switch? Pull it off the wall and look. NO wires no use.

Could it be an inside switch for the water heater's electric heating element??

Don't think so, there is a toggle switch for that on the outside of the water heater, but it could be related?

Some TT's (particularly 5ver's, I think) have both an inside and an outside electric heating element switch.

Your water heater should be plugged into a 120VAC outlet near it. If you can find that outlet, unplug it and plug in a lamp or something that you tell is on or off. Then flip your mystery switch and see if the power at that outlet changes.

I can try that in the daylight, but seems like ever since I flipped the outside switch ON that it has NOT been running on gas since.
