Mysterious plastic plate & hole in the floor

Does anyone know why this plastic plate would be installed under the slide carpet? It looks like a piece of cove base. It's only a little over a foot long and only in one area near the fireplace. It does not extend the full length of the slide & we don't see this under any of the other slides. If I lift it, I can see right down to the ground outside. It is not sealed at all. Is this normal? We just can't figure out why it is there. We didn't notice it during the PDI. It wasn't until we had taken the trailer out and ran the slide out and noticed the rubber all bunched up under the carpet. We did talk to the dealer about it after we returned from the trip, but they just blew it off as no big deal. It seems to us like an open door for rodents and bugs. Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Not sure what it would be transitioning. The slide is about 10 ft long and this is just in one little area. I wish I could get a better pic of it to show it better. :/

Maybe the weight of the fireplace made it sag and catch in that area and they put it there to keep it from catching. Maybe they used some scrap material to avoid waste and they tried to cover it somehow.

They usually put a piece like that in an area where the slide is going over a linoleum floor so it does not scratch it. Possibly like someone mentioned due to the weight of the slide they put it there to save the carpet

I have the same in my 360. I figured it was to prevent the carpet from getting torn by the slide.
