Sierra 385 FKBH destination trailer
Just wondering what problems other owners are having with their units.
One of my biggies is the ridiculous amount of propane consumption. We went through two 30lb tanks in three days. Thermostat set at 69. outside temp no lower than 30. When we took delivery at our camp site, the refrigerator and microwave did not work. Our underbelly was cut into in three places. Trim on the slideout by the stove was all kittywampas. Just to name a few.

I have a 371rebh and had the same problem with LP consumption. Over a 4 day period went through 70lbs. Same temp stettings. Low airflow. I've got it into the dealer for a TON of warranty work, that is one of the items. I'll write back when I hear back on this topic.

Ours is at the dealer now. They tell me there is no propane leak, they did a drop test. I asked them to check out the furnace. They told me it works fine. That's it I guess they are done now. Great.

That is what I am afraid of. Mine is at the dealer awaiting a tech. I will contact FR if that is the answer I get too. But, from what I hear, I won't get far. I am just glad to hear I am not the only person with this problem. Power in numbers...I will let you know what my dealer comes up with.

No problems
I've had my unit for over a year and no issues with LP usage.

Same thing here. I used one tank of propane from May-October and over 50 nights in the trailer.

If its a destination trailer (i.e. on the same site for months at a time) you should look into renting a large tank (e.g. 400lbs) from a propane distributor. Much cheaper that way.
RV's have many things working against them for heating efficiency... poor insulation, gaps around slides, usually single-pane windows, etc. RV furnaces are quite inefficient due to the very short combustion/heat-exchange tube (just feel how hot the exhaust is... that's heat you're paying for but is not going into your trailer).

Platto kid, they want to bring it back to the site on Monday. Anthony still hasn't dumped gravel and leveled. Big surprise there.

No surprise there
The grounds gotta be very soft , most-likely it wont be in your site.
Think I would just call around for a load of gravel.
Or get firm with Anthony, if he takes your call...........
Im gonna be heading out to the campground today to check on things.
Will drive past your site n check-er-out

Even so, I've never had a trailer this bad. At this rate a 400lb tank would be gone in 3 weeks. Something is wrong with that IMHO.

The 400 tanks are labled gallons not pounds....400 gallons is not the same as 400 pounds
The large residential tanks are usually 500 or 1000 gallons
We have two 500 gallon tanks at our rental property - with a wood stove it can almost last all winter - it runs water heater and kitchen stove as well as furnace

Still, I don't believe the answer to excessive LP usage is "get a bigger tank."

Did they purge the new tanks to get the air out of them? It's possible they weren't full of propane. They need to be purged of the air in the tanks before they are filled. Propane dealers not just refill stations know how to do this.

Not many dealers FILL the tanks. Put in just enough to test and to be able to tell the customer you have gas....

We have had our destination trailer for two full years and have only gone through two 30lb tanks of LP in that time. We use an electric heater to maintain the heat. The main LP heater only kicks on when the electric heaters fall behind.
We also don't camp too much when it's cold though.
We also got lucky with our trailer. Two years and not a single issue with our Sandpiper. Has not been back to the dealer and we have had no problems. I put this down to our dealer doing a good job in fixing before delivery and simple luck. We really enjoy our destination trailer experience.

Murph69,
Did you ever get your LP consumption issue looked at and diagnosed?
I am curious. Mine is still in the shop for the enormous list I had, still waiting for a call.

Hey Magic. Got our trailer back and just as I thought, they said there is nothing wrong with it. They said they did a full drop test that showed no problems. I'm going to have someone I know check it out in the spring.
