Thinking of buying a Sierra 365SAQ!

Salesman is telling my husband that his Heavy Duty Silverado can pull it. Can someone advise us before we buy. He said that his truck had 1100 lbs limit, He does have 4 wheel drive and it is a 2006. Can we pull this size trailer or is he dreaming?

2500 Chevrolet Silverado gas heavy duty 4X4. I don't know what size engine he has. He works third so he won't be up until 10pm. I was just concerned after reading the forum and hearing adding airbags would not help. That's what the salesman told him to do. Also assuring him that his truck would pull it. We camp alot and love it but I don't want to get over our heads. We are taking a second mortgage to get this, so we are guaranteed a tax right off!

2060 on the pin, add all the crap and you are looking at 2500 pin weight, I would not want that behind my rig, and I have the same year with the diesel and air bags, most people pulling that same rig have DRW trucks check out this link http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ght-29605.html

The gas engine will not have enough torque to pull it on the interstate. Been there, tried that with an 8.1L CC Chevy dually. On secondary roads, no problem, but struggles immensely on the fast roadways.

Consult your accountant. You are not guaranteed a "write off", just because you take out a second mortgage on your home. There are stipulations as to how you must use that money to "legally" deduct it from your taxes.

I've pulled mine with both an '11 2500 and now with a '13 3500 DRW. The 2500 was 4x4 CC LB and did fine. It dropped the exact same amount as my 3500 does now. The only difference I've noticed is their is less "bounce" when you hit a big bump. I would not pull it with a gas motor though, and I'm not even sure the gas motor is rated for pulling that much, even with a 4.10 rear end. These are definitely in the diesel (or large gas, Ford v10) category.

Yea, sorry to burst the bubble but you WILL need a diesel. My 2008 ford f-250 long bed 2WD diesel with TIMBREN bump stops pulls/handles my 2014 365SAQB with no problem. I have no water in water tank/no generator/no washer or dryer on board. I don't need those things and will never dry camp. Just my 2 cents.

People have done it... My advice even though the 365 is an awesome machine, is to find a small unit, if your not going to upgrade trucks. Your families safety has to be number 1. It will pull it yes but you will be at(probably over) all the trucks ratings. Adding airbags will help to level out the load. I pulled ours with an 2006 f350 with a far from stock 6.0l diesel and bags and it was a workout for it. I upgraded to a 2014 F350 dually for the added security. So I wouldn't suggest anything smaller then a 1 ton SRW. Remember the salesman in trying to sell a trailer, he isn't worried about what happens after you leave his lot.

2012 F-250 6.7 Powerstroke and 365 SAQ

I pull my 2012 365 SAQ with a SRW, 2012 F-250, CC, Short bed, 4X4 with a 6.7 Powerstroke and Air bags. The air bags really make towing this trailer much more pleasant and the truck sits level, no sag. Tows just fine and plenty of power, just a beast to get stopped! Can't imagine towing this trailer, loaded, without a diesel. JMHO.

Pulled mine with a Ram 2500 diesel. I added air bags. Pulled okay on calm days. Stopped well with exhaust brake. Became a monster in a strong crosswind. Traded it for a 330rl. Loved to camp in the saq but hated pulling it. The wind always blows here in Kansas.

Dunno if it's too late or not, but I would not advise this combo.

I have a 2008 2500HD with the 6.0 gasser that pulls my WA2715. She's only ~1500Lbs on the hitch and around 8,000-9,000Lbs overall depending on if she's hauling the toy. I run a weight distribution hitch and dual pad anti-sway bars.

I know the 5th wheel is a bit different, but going off how she pulls the 2715, I wouldn't dare put any more weight behind her. She's the extended cab long bed 4x4. I average around 55MPH getting about 7MPG doing everything I can to keep the RPMs below 2,500. I'm guessing i'll only be able to get a max of 40,000 miles out of her pulling like she is, although, I wouldn't be surprised if she'd dead in 20,000.

I'm guessing that a tow cam, air bags (cause the suspension is at its limit), new head gaskets, valves, rods, maybe rockers, upgraded oil & trans coolers along with a tune would get her into a better place but I'll probably just trade up to a diesel when I get the money...
