Tires, Tires, Tires....

So I've been nervous about my tires ever since my first trip with the 365SAQ the week after we brought it home. While Driving across Tennessee I had a tire start to fall apart - literally treads separating from tire. I caught the issue before it blew out and put the spare on.... Forest River claimed it was a bad run and I'd be fine.

I haven't had any more problems with the tires, but we're heading to Florida later this year and the long run has me concerned again. I've been doing my homework and I got down to the Goodyear G614s and the Michelin XPS Rib. I was just advised by a tire dealer though that the 110PSI operating pressure of the 614 was too high for the stock wheels on my rig. That leaves me with the XPS. Does anyone on here have any direct experience with the XPS, or an alternative option that I haven't seen identified somewhere?

I know tires are sometimes a sticky topic as most people are quite opinionated and I'm not looking to start a riot - just trying to get some piece of mind and real world experience before a drop $1000+ on replacing the china bombs currently installed on my trailer. Thanks!

I think the Ribs are one of the more popular replacement tires used, especially for the heavier rigs.

If you have 6k axles under yours, then most of the wheels will not take 110 psi. I got really lucky and my 6k wheels were rated for that. Call Tredit Tire - Tires and Wheels for RVs and Trailers or go to the website and look at this one T03 It has a rating of 3580 pounds per wheel, plus it is 6.5" wide as required for the G614s and it is 6 lug. Wheels from here are not that expensive as they are the OEM suppliers to the RV industry as well as boat, car and horse trailer markets. IT is where my new wheels came from when my axles were switched. This wheel should enable you to use the G614s or any other 110psi tire out there. Also you might want to look at this tire as it is becoming pretty popular $192.21 - Sailun LT235/85R16 8244393 tires at SimpleTire.com I believe they are made in Canada, but a good option for the other expensive G rated tires.

Check out Cooper SRM II tires. They are American made, good reviews and relatively inexpensive. I own them and have good luck for 5000 miles so far.
