Water Heater Switch
We have a 2015 Sierra 357 TRIP, in the control panel there is a water heater switch, what does that switch do? With switch off, we always have hot water on propane, battery or electric powered. So thinking it's not for hot water heater. We have polar package and someone told us it might be a heater for fresh water tank, looking for correct answer. We bought used, no owner manual and haven't found anything discussing this switch.

A picture of this switch in question would help tremendously, to know if it's actually to the water heater.

Without a pic or more info my guess would be you have a dual electric/propane hot water heater. When the switch is off you have hot water because of the propane. When the switch is on you are saving your propane and burning the campgrounds power.

We haven't ever turned on switch. I will get a picture on Wednesday night as we are getting ready to head toward southern Illinois.

On my Sierra Select, the electric switch for the element is inside the water heater access compartment. This is the switch that you always want to turn off before emptying your water tank.
The switch that is located inside the control panel on my unit appears to operate solenoids that allow for propane should I decide to use it that way.
That said, I have only had my unit for a little over a week, but I think that is how mine works anyway.
I also have a switch in my control panel that is for water tank heating as well.

That's the setup on mine. Electric switch on water heater front face and switch on control panel inside for propane.

The switch outside on the hot water heater is a master ON/OFF switch, which cuts the power to the water heater completely.
I always turn this off when traveling or when the hot water heater is empty and trailer not in use.
Inside hot water heater switch is to run the hot water heater off of electric and this is the one to turn the electric to the hot water heater.
You may have another switch which turns on the propane to the hot water heater.
I often turn both the gas and the electric on to the hot water heater when I'm taking a shower as it will heat up the tank really fast and allow another minute or two of shower time.

I'm not sure this is correct for the 10 gallon Suburban dual mode water heater. The switch on the outside only controls the electrical heater element which can also be shut off at the circuit breaker box. The lighted switch on the multi-functional control panel only controls propane side of the water heater. If you run both, you get faster recovery.

I have a red lighted switch which looks like a light switch inside by the control panel that turns the electric on and off.
Then, on the lighted tank gauge thingy, (left to right) there is a switch to see the tank levels, the middle switch turns on the water pump, and the third switch at far right turns on the gas to the water heater.
