Question any 2013 Wildcat 293REX owners here - question please!

We are looking for our first fiver and this one is a huge contender - except it is 31' - we are hoping for 29' - a newbie question - is this a big difference - besides the obvious 2'3" difference with parking? We have a 21' TT now and are on the search for a 29' fiver.

We will be traveling this country for about a year or so and then using it for trips from wherever the home base will be. Grand Canyon, fishing spots, Canada, Oregon, and do a big circle, I guess. Any advice would be appreciated!

Is the fireplace standard equipment or do you think we could find this 2013 model without a fireplace? if standard, has anyone taken the fireplace out? A big deal?

Many thanks from another newbie!

I have been researching 5er's in the 30' range for a while now. Their hard to find under 30'. I'm looking for a rear kitchen so the Wildcat 282RK or Rockwood 8280WS is close for FR products. The Arctic Fox 27-5L is a nice unit and is at 29.5'. It comes with a higher price tag though.

Can't help with the fireplace removal.

A very happy 292REX owner

We purchased our 2014 293REX in November after getting out of a very bad 2013 Crossroads CSL28CS 5er and love it. Plenty of interior and exterior storage and enough room to accommodate me, my wife and Knox, an 80lb Golden which seems to "plop" himself down in various places. The fireplace can be pulled, all it is, is an insert surrounded by imitation brick which is stapled in place and with a little work can be removed, we will be leaving ours in due to the fact it puts out really good heat when needed. The only modification I have made was to swap out the outdoor kitchen TV mount with one that was a bit more practical. Up to now the longest trip we have taken was a little over a week and had no problems with the amenities the 283REX incorporated, we usually go for long weekends right now.

We just this year purchased a 31'8" Rockwood 8289WS after towing pop ups for 20 years. This is a breeze to tow and parking it is not that difficult at all. I think you won't have any problem with the extra length.

Thanks so much - I forgot to ask - does this unit have any steps between the bed and the bathroom ? Scared of that night fall!

Any info would be much appreciated!
