Anyone towing a 312 BHX with ...

a Silverado 2500HD GASSER? When we finally go for a 5er that's the one we want...just wondering if our gasser would be ok with it....

Previous camper was a 32' TT bunkhouse, 8300lbs dry weight pulled with a 09 2500HD 6.0
On flats and moderate hills, truck did just fine...once we got to any kind of incline and mt grades, forget about it.

Truck chassis worked great but the V8 & tranny just had a fit pulling that weight in those conditions and I didn't care for the engine screaming past 4K rpms to get all the torque out.

I pull my 2013 312BHX with a 2007 2500HD gasser. The truck really does well at 65 mph and below. If I was doing a lot of long distance trips (trips over 150 miles) I would fork over for a diesel. But I really have no reason for that extra expense at this point.

what does the yellow sticker claim your trailer weighs out of the factory? Does your truck sit level when hooked up?

8798 lbs. it is difficult to even notice a change in the truck's stance with full pin weight on it. It definitely does not give the appearance of being overloaded. Trailer pulls great. Definitely has a different/better feel with the fifth wheel versus the previous TT I owned. I pulled it over 3000 miles this summer, and I had absolutely zero problems with either.

That's exactly what I did, went from a 2009 2500HD gasser to our current 2005 2500HD 6.6TD, what a difference!
Important to take your time searching for a diesel, preferably one that has not been towing heavily and hasn't been performance tuned (exactly what I did in our search).
BTW...if you choose an older Duramax, the 05 & 06 model years are the best years pre-emission years which started in 07

Well I drove an 05 GMC CC Dually D/A 3500 super loaded with only 88k mi a local dlr has asking $25k....wow what a nice truck. Really well cared for....only problem...it needed 6 tires...another $1200-$1400. They were only going to give me $25k for mine & I owe <$6800....would cost me $7800 to get the GMC...that's going backwards in my mind. damn nice truck tho

Glad to hear it worked out. What year was the truck you traded off?
