Are you the original owner of this Wildcat? I ask because I believe all Wildcats came with a DSI water heater. If your's has a pilot light I think the original water heater must have been replaced with a different model.

We did that, but if we are camping and not using the hot water heater, we need the gas for stove and oven, that pilot light stays light 24/7 and uses up propane. When we were on the road roughing it, we went through so much propane. Isn't there a way to make sure that light goes out when not in use. When we flip the switch for the hot water heater which is the one that lights it, shouldn't it go out when we flip it in the off position?

I just purchased a new 2012 Wildcat 322RK. I need to installl assist rails going up the steps to the bathroom since my wife needs the assistance. Any suggestions on how to mount them on the walls and what type of fasteners to use? Thanks for your help in advance. Thiis is my first post, and I hope this is the proper way to do this.

We are out our second weekend on a Wildcat Maxx 28rkx and can't get the porch light to turn off. I even turned off the breakers and removed the fuses. Removing the bulb was the only solution. Is there anything I am missing?

Do you have a remote by chance? If so, once you turn it on with the remote, that is how it must be turned off.

I found out that we have the DSI hot water heater, it is a Suburban SW6DE which runs off of electric or propane. Even when the switch was on the off position, and we had the gas on, the pilot light refuses to go off. I have a strange feeling that we are going to need a new adjustment/control valve for the propane? Not sure. That pilot light should not be on if we turn off the switch inside the camper, the one that heats up the water heater and lights the pilot light?

If you have a DSI, you should not have a "pilot light."
What you do have is a leaking gas solenoid valve.

I agree with Lou. DSI stands for direct spark ignition. There is no pilot light. You probably should turn the gas off until a tech can check it out. If the water heater is off, and something is still flaming, there is a problem.

Hey Chris i have an issue with my shower/tube door in my bathroom. There is a little plastic/rubber clear piece that goes under the door mine is ripped off. It looks like it just slides in a channel. It is the piece that goes between the door and tube when closed. My dealer says they cant find a part# for just that piece. Anybody know or have a fix for this?? Is there something else i can use that i can just buy from a hardware store??

I wanted to share some news and apologize for any delays for those of you who've contacted me for more assistance.

As of last Friday, Rod Batts is no longer with Forest River. Rod got a wonderful opportunity for his family outside of the RV industry and took it. This all happened fast and we're moving quickly to fill the huge shoes Rod leaves behind. Rod was a great asset to our team and did a fantastic job supporting a huge user base of Wildcat customers. I wish him the best!

Hi Chris, I have a Wildcat 31 TS. I bought from Camping World the Hardwired Surge Guard, with the Remote Power Monitor. I will hook up the Surge Gard behind the service panel & would like to run the Monitor over to the kitchen counter, where the propane switch is, I have 25 feet of wire. How can I fish the monitor wire from the panel to the kitchen counter, do you or someone at Forest River have an idea? Would a copy of the floor plan help? I am open to suggestions, hope to hear from you soon. Al.

I painstakingly read each and every post in this forum, so I wouldn't be that guy that repeated an issue. 2.5 hrs of my life I lost, but it was my choice. I have owned my FR Wildcat 312BHX for a year now and want to share some "common sense" things that didn't pass the giggle funny bone test.

1) the entertainment cabinets are about 3/8 of an inch to short depth wise to store DVDs so you can read the titles through the glass. Additionally, the higher cabinets are nice to look at, but have no real purpose. Seriously, all they can hold is a tire pressure gauge, ink pens and a small pad of paper. The upper ones are up too high to use as storage (I am 6'1") and the depth issue makes the whole thing ..... useless.

is it a big deal? No. Does it make someone scratch their head wondering who was the idiot engineer? Yes.

2) While the arch'd ceiling is appealing and nice, why must the air vent and OTA antenna cranks be placed at almost the highest point? Wife is 5'3" with 4" cinder blocks tied to her feet. I had to buy her a little foldout stepladder for inside use so she could open/close vent or adjust the OTA TV signal. (hand me some cheese for the whining)

3) Where was the quality control when the WC was complete? Not whining too loud here, just really frustrating when you go up and down the steps to the mstr bdrm and you step on staples. Not one, not two, but like 14. Imaging stepping on a lego block in the middle of the night!! (14 times over) **not whining .. pissed when it happens!!**

4) Concur with the battery kill switch that was previously mentioned. YES, we want them in future versions. While you are at it, suggest a more "accurate" tank usage meter. Fill, dump, perform a thorough flush and it still says 1/3 full on black or gray. Why make the owner do a DIY to upgrade it, you gave me mandatory heater tanks for gosh sakes!

5) Why can't the basic oven and stove have DSI? At least as a mandatory option!

6) Love the bunk house option, however, figuring out where to install a TV is a discussion every time we go out (I avoid the discussion and go outside to the beer fridge).

7) The HD entertainment equipment is a nice touch, but you can't run DirecTv HD signal down the cable. The receiver and the dish need to communicate with an electric impulse signal, the coax cable installed isn't capable of xmitting the signal. So, we have a nice HDTV that can only receive OTA HD or SD signal from the sat dish.

8) I will be contacting you (wildcat Chris) to get a list of "local" service centers who are willing to perform the FR warranty work. Both the local dealers are firm, that if you didn't buy it from them, don't expect them to do the work. I say local, because I do not think it is fair for someone to have to travel hours away for factory warranty work.

FYI for other RVer's (aka the lady who needed additional keys) .. do yourself a favor, replace the locks on your RV. WE all have 751 keys and we all can access each others luggage and storage compartments.

Love the lay out kids in the back, adults in the front! Love the U shape dinette. Makes playing cards/games with family enjoyable. Love the foldout sleeper sofa with air mattress. Love the laundry chute. Tankless H2O heater takes some getting use to, wife was the first guinea pig. Haven't used the outside stove/sink, don't know if I ever will.

Two things I wish could be changed about the floor plan
1) A cable pathway, OR .. provide us DIYers with schematics, so we don't cause any undo damage. (serious, all jokes aside .... please?)
2) Small port windows in the front of the cab over. Although a double edge sword, because it is a place for leakage to occur, it would be nice that if you hear something outside, you can just look to see what it is. Then again - offer a security camera as an upgradeable option!!

Sorry for the lengthy thread ... but I had over 2.5 hours to think about my thoughts!!

When I picked my 31 foot 5th wheel, it had a big ball of used calking in the bumper, it took a while to get it loose & out. I suppose this should have given me an indication of what to expect, problem is Sue & I love our 5th wheel, so we fix most of the problems ourselves & what we cannot fix we seek help.
