Hi, Chris,
New to the forum and potential new Wildcat owner! Wasn't sure about protocol, so my apologies if I'm out of spec here.

Am looking to purchase a new 2014 Wildcat 295 RSX from a dealer in Raleigh, NC, but had some questions about the hitch/pin box set up.

I'd like to replace the standard pin box with a Reese 5th Airborne Sidewinder, but am concerned about warranty issues. I sent a note to the Lippert rep, but am uncertain about their response.

1) Lippert said that replacement shouldn't be an issue as long as i get the appropriate model that bolts on as a direct replacement. I don' t have access to the 295's part number (I'm up in Harrisburg PA)--is there any way I can find out what is installed (I'm assuming all 295's have the same pin box). He referred to a "chart," but didn't include it as an attachment.

2) I had questioned whether such a replacement would void any warranty on the camper--his answer was unclear ("I don't think there would be any issues..."). Any way you could provide a more definitive answer? I tried to locate phone numbers to the factory, but no luck.

Though not a first time owner, this is my first 5er--just trying to get the best set up to make the ride smooth. My TW is a 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD gas 6.0 with standard box (6.5 ft) with a 4:10 axle.

I have a 2014 Wildcat 303BHX. Does anyone know where I can purchase additional accessories for the rack system on the back wall of the outside kitchen?

as far as i know, this is something the majority of the RV industry, will not provide, including the FR brands/divisions.

I have bought a 2001 Wildcat. The inside looks as if it has hardly been used. The outside could use some TLC. The decals are curling etc. Was wondering if there is anyway I can get a decal kit and redo these? Hopefully I will get an answer this time. Cant send a private message his box is full. Thanks for your help.

IMO, save your money. A 2001 camper, no matter how well kept, will be needing some expensive upkeep before you know it. Also, trying to find the correct decals for a 2001 will be problematic.

Better you remove them all and, after you get it tuned back up, buy a decal kit with contemporary designs or a "body wrap."

I'm not even sure they exist for many RV's... I've never seen one for any large RV (Trailer or Motorhome) that I have been around...

However, I had a early-2000's Starcraft pop-up, and it had wiring diagrams in the owners manual! However, they were dated several years earlier than the model we had, and I discovered that there were some undocumented changes...

I called the factory about this and they said they do not have wiring diagrams, I guess they just wing it with the wire runs and terminations..

I think the secret is that they don't need wire diagrams. They simply have a wire loom that gets pulled into place and the wire guy knows where it goes. The only RV manufactures I have seen with a somewhat wire diagram has been Blue Bird and Liberty Prevost coaches. Each of there wires are also color coded and labeled individually. But, then for spending north of a million dollars you should expect something better than a $35K+ RV.
As for me, I'm happy saving the $965,000 for my future.

Wiring diagrams

FYI. Since the exterior walls are made by a supplier and due to their construction, there is very little wiring in the walls except for exterior lights. Most othe wiring comes up from the floor into the interior walls and cabinets. If you would identify what mods you are considering, I'm sure there are forum members that could give you good advice. You could also visit the factory for a tour and see how the wiring is done and ask specific questions.

Not sure I can definitively answer your questions, but here's my advice:

1. FYI: Lippert doesn't make the Wildcat 295RSX frame, it's made by BAL (Norco Industries). The standard pin box we use on the 295RSX is built by MOR/ryde and is their equivalent to the Lippert 1621 extended pin box.

2. As for whether an aftermarket pin box will void the warranty, I'd need to have you call in to my service department to ask: Bryan @ 574-206-7609. There are certain modifications that CAN void the warranty, so please give them a call to discuss.

You can call Wildcat's part department for more information on this:
Kyle @ 574-206-7615

I believe the current rack comes from this supplier (they may have additional parts and pieces available direct):
Versa Trac

Hey Chris,

We have a 2014 312BHX. I was looking to mount a bracket to hang a folding table on the ceiling of the pass-thru storage. Can you find the spacing dimensions and direction of the joists. I would like to screw into something structural, and not just the sheeting.

Thanks

I'll ask production and engineering about this and see if they have any information to share...

get a plastic table at walmart that folds in half $40, and store it in the front where the front jacks are, it works great. I can fit my table and my grill in there and all of my fishing tackle works great. Also store the dog food and bowls by the battery as well.

Hi Chris,

Just a note about an issue we've had with our 2014 Wildcat 312QBX:

The manual crank handle provided with our 5ver from the factory only fit on 2 manual crank shafts (the spare tire & electric rear stabilizers) but would not fit on the other 2 (landing gear & living room slide). The shafts were too large to fit inside the crank handle opening. The dealer ordered us another handle thinking that would solve the problem, but we had the same issue with the new handle. After several trips to the dealer, they finally had to drill out the end of the crank handle and cut off part of the landing gear shaft to get the handle to fit onto all the necessary shafts.

While trying to figure out the issue, we also experienced a similar issue on a 2015 model they had on the lot but only with the handle not fitting onto the living room slide shaft as it appears the landing gear is changed/different in the 2015 model.

I commend our dealer's service manager for taking the time and effort to solve this problem for us...but I believe this is something the factory should maybe look into before any other customers run into the same problem.

Thanks for listening...

Is it true the new Wildcat units will no longer offer the rock/brick fire place front?
