Pulled in at a Camping World and they replace wheel bearings and we bought a tire monitoring system and paid for install, which we realized did not work after we were on the road. Camped overnight, on way home we were flagged down by another driver and pulled over. That same wheel was about to fall off. Had a tow escort while we pulled off wheel and chained axle and limped to a tire shop. As now it sits there, unable to find discontinued brake drum. Camping World said they would pay for repair and towing and refund install fee for monitor. That's great but can't find parts and now reading horror stories about axles, bearings and tires going out. We only drove 110 miles when the replacement bearings disintegrated. Trying to contact original dealer, left calls to Forest River, just need help on what direction to go. Great fear that this thing is just going to self destruct. Not a happy camper.
I'm sure that your frame and axles were build and assembled by LCI also know as Lippert Components and then provided to Forest River Wildcat division. I would suggest that you call or contact Lippert for assistance and information as to parts.

How much Lippert is in the 2015 272rlx

Hi, New to the forum but not Forest River. Currently have a Palomino Puma and getting ready to go for a Wildcat 272RLX. Looks like a nice 5er. Due to my previous experiences with LCI products, I'd like to know just how much there is in this 5er. The dealer tells me only the landing gear. I'd prefer there be no LCI stuff at all

Thanks
Sheldon

When we were at the Wildcat plant tour I think they said there was no Lippert parts on the new Wildcats. Norco industries Bal is making the frames and other parts now.

We've generally been satisfied with our new Wildcat w/ the exception of some water leaks around the wardrobe slide. I keep all the slide rails lubed but hold my breath every time I open or close them. Make sure the dealer shows you how to operate them manually. Ours didn't have a clue. Otherwise, it's a nice camper.

I guess I'll have to consider slide toppers. And will definitely check into the manual movement of the slides - Thanks

As I remember, your unit is like mine - a 295, right? My wardrobe slide leak has been "fixed" 3x but still leaks a little. Now I've learned that my dealership's service manager (who had become like family to me!) has resigned and taken his two sons (technicians) with him. At least the two owners remember me!

Thanks for the heads up. Actually we have never thought of asking about a manual override system to the slides. I guess it is about we did!

Slide toppers should be a no brainer for any coach with slides. I've seen so many with rot in the corners of the slides that would of been prevented if it had toppers.

As eland mentioned, Wildcat as of the 2014 model year run went to all BAL components is what Wildcat Chris told me....right after we purchased our
2013 model 355LS.

My 2014 Wildcat made in May has Lippert components and Bal components started in the July models. An easy way to know is LCI has hydraulic sliders and Bal has the electric sliders.

When we visited factory in 2012, we were told they test water system for leaks @ 100 psi. We keep a water pressure gauge in our inlet line and have never had campground pressure over 50 psi. We use no pressure regulator in an attempt to get the Girard tankless water heater to work properly (but that is another whole subject entirely).

We had our tankless water heater replaced with a electric/gas tank water heater when it was up in Elkhart having some warranty repairs made.

The tankless can be very finicky in that if there is any air in the water line it can and will mess with the water pressure. The unit requires a very constant PSI water pressure and flow to keep the water heater to keep from shutting itself down. Incoming water temp will also play havoc with the tankless heaters ability to control the sensors as to when to heat the water and no. It tends to work much better with cooler water being introduced into the system than warm to hot water often found in the summer months or in the south that comes out of the RV park faucet.
At times we loved ours, at times we hated it, we dealt with it as we liked the ability to have long long showers without running out of water. However we also hated having long showers where the water could and would go from burning hot to cold in the blink of an eye. Got tired of taking a shower where we were having to constantly adjust the hot and cold water mix at the shower faucet looking for a temp that was comfortable.

In the end our choice to change back to a standard electric/gas unit was that when we are in a RV park we turn it to electric which keeps hot water on demand while using no propane in the process. Our showers are now temp controlled and constant. Have yet to run out of hot water while taking a shower as the unit does have an extremely fast recovery time.

Wow I didn't realize there was that many problems with the unit I was wondering how did it work when you're using the pump in the RV because I do a lot of Dry camping

IT can be a quirky love/hate relationship. You may want to do a search for it here on the site and don't limit it to just the Wildcat sub-forum. In operational theory it sounds perfect, our experience as well as that of many others has not been as favorable. We were very pleased with it the first few times out, but...........well, I'll just say but.

Another thing to consider is that when you use the instant hot water system there is a cooling fan that activates to blow heat out of the compartment. We also found as have many others that for some reason when the toilet was flushed it activated this fan for a couple of minutes. No idea why, but it did.

We don't miss having it, is the best way I can put it in review.

Hey Chris, we have a Wildcat Sterling 32RK. We are having an issue with our furnace and thought maybe you could help troubleshoot it. The temp in the fifth wheel is 49 degrees. We turned on the furnace and set it to 68. The furnace kicks on and runs briefly (1-2 minutes) then shuts off. Once the thermostat is turned on and runs the first time, it doesn't kick on a second time. Any thoughts?

Chris, is no longer with Wildcat or Forest River, he has moved over to a position with Jayco. His replacement has yet to make an appearance here since being promoted to replace Chris. In the mean time we are at the mercy of working within ourselves...........which ain't all bad.

Anyway back to your issue. Since it sounds like you need some timely assistance I would recommend you go repost your question in this forum,
General Tech and Repair - Forest River Forums
It may bring you quicker answers to warming up ASAP. You may add what model thermostat you have and furnace.

Best of luck,
Jon

Not being familiar with that model could you offer some additional information? What size is the current mattress that you have? How thick it is? Inter spring or foam? Did you find the factory mattress comfortable?

There are a number of mattress providers on Ebay that offer mattress to fit or custom made. Another option would be to place a mattress topper on your current mattress. Take the measurements and see if it would be replaced with a standard size twin, full, queen, or king mattress, if so than any mattress retailer would be the less expensive way to go.
