Bed room lights just went off

Was using the bedroom lights in my 2013 282RKX when suddenly all the lights went out. Did check the 2 reading lights by the bed. They too are not working. The winnguard sensor meter is not working. All ac plugs do work. Now I have a red light on the converter panel next to the 15 amp fuse for the bedroom. I pulled the fuse and its blown. I replaced the fuse and it blew that fuse. I must have a short somewhere, but where.
Chris any idea what caused this?. a quick fix?

I agree with you that it sounds like a short issue somewhere.

Chris hasn't been seen on here in better than a month or so. No one seems to know why, but at this point it would appear that we have lost our life line to the factory.

That being said, I suggest that you go over to this section of the forum and post your electrical question. More members will see it and may be able to help. While this is not a specific Wildcat sub-forum it does cover all the various makes of Forest River products. And under the differing exterior and interior trim they are pretty much all the same RV.

Good Luck

Have you tried turning off all the lights in the bedroom on that fuse, then replace the fuse? Does it blow right away with all the lights turned off?

If it doesn't blow with all the switches off, try turning each switch on then off one at a time until the fuse blows. That may give you an idea as to which section of the wire loom or run where the short is grounding out. It maybe as simple as a staple having been shot through the wiring. Now finding that staple will be a little more tough to locate.

jonrjen, its blows the fuse right away with all lights off and switch off. Its got to be in the wall. I will repost this question on the proper section.
Thanks

You might want to try unplugging from shore power, then replace the fuse one more time. This may help to figure out if the problem is in the convertor or the trailer wiring.

Just thinking out loud.

2013 Wildcat xtralite 293REX

Thanks for this from a newbie RVer -

On this model is the fireplace standard equipment or do you think we could find this 2013 model without a fireplace? if standard, is it possible to remove the fireplace?

We are looking at our first fiver (currently have the 21FBRS TT) and would love to consider this one, but the fireplace - we are from NH and it is cold here and we are tired of keeping our fireplace going - if we never see another fireplace that would be too soon

we are also considering the 8244 fiver and this is a plus b/c we want to stay at 29' and the 8244 is that! But I love the bedroom in this 293rex...

Any advice for us?

Thank you for your suggestions, comments and time,
KIm & Dick

While not familiar with the model you are looking at, many models the fireplace is an optional expense. Yet some are a standard feature on others included in an ordered package.

I was not big on having a fire place and preferred the idea of added storage space, however the wife likes the fireplace theme. So, yes we have a fireplace....LOL!!

However, the fireplaces are once piece slide in self contained unites that should be able to be removed by pulling our a few screws and unplugging the cord. I sure there would be a resell market if you wanted to recoup part of your money. From there you would just need to either build or contract a local cabinet maker to supply doors, shelving and any needed trim to make it look like it came from the factory that way.

One benefit to having the fire place is it will provide heat on cool evening with out using your gas supply up

Not sure if this is the right place, but here goes
I'm looking pretty hard at a 312QBX... I've noticed on the website and latest brochure that it shows a rounded shower in the bathroom. Looking at some of the 2014 312QBX's at various dealership websites, they show pictures and floorplans that show an angled shower. Is the rounded shower a late addition to the 2014's? Are they being built like that now? i.e., if I were to order a new one, would it come with the angle or rounded shower?

The wife likes the looks of the rounded shower on website

Thanks,
--Paul
