Clearing up the confusion...

Thank you very much Chris for the valuable info.
Two points:
1. I am going to pass this on to my local dealer so maybe he can order my Wildcat on Monday at the current, not new, prices.

2. I am sure many of us will be looking for your results of a new way to carry bicycles. The other thread you started on what we'd like to have has many responses on the rear hitch receiver. Maybe there is another way that will prevent the uninformed individual from using the hitch to tow another vehicle, that should make your legal department happy.

Obviously, the best resource is your local Wildcat dealer -- and we're very proud of the dealers we have on the ground today. But if you're stuck, please let me know your questions. If I can assist, I'll do my best to get you an answer in a timely manner or direct you towards someone who can. Wildcat's got some great people in production, service, and parts that I can count on to help me help you.

Hope we can keep this both friendly and productive!

Chris is thier someone like yourself for the Rockwood Signature Ultralite 5th wheels line?

You could contact rockwood directly but I am unaware of anyone from that division using the forum as we do. We at Wildcat are true enthusiast in the industry and we do embrace the ideas and thoughts retail customers provide. That being said what can we do to help you? We will try to help.

Should I tell the factory when I order my Wildcat that I plan to use two batteries? Does the factory make provisions for the added battery? Any suggestions?

We don't provide any batteries from the factory, but we do include one vented battery box in the front storage compartment. We don't offer any specific different build for multiple battery users, but there's plenty of space to do so!

Order number status

is it possible to get the status of your order from the factory if you know the order number?

Ordered my 302RL Wildcat today so I would be interested in its progress.

My dealer received a new 302RL this past week. Noticed it had the new bedroom door that Chris showed my wife and I during our factory tour. The new cat also had the new domed ceiling in the living area. Looks real sharp and certainly distinctive touch.

Jim, please call your Wildcat dealer and ask them to contact the factory for an update! An "order number" from your dealer may not be something our people have access to... your dealer should be able to help you on this!

Wildcat Chris...

In the Wildcat options list, as with other brands, there's an item called Canadian CSA. I've imported two campers into Canada and have intentionally waived that option both times. All of the components in the campers are stamped with the CSA designation. The CSA approval question has never been asked during the importation process.

What does the Canadian CSA option actually provide.

Dave

What is the standard pin box for the wildcat?

The pin box is not listed on any of the spcification - so I was wondering what is the standard.

Was thinking about moving up to an airride pin box - but it is hard to know what to look at for prices w/out that info.

Dave Monica,

I used to work on flight simulation devices. The CSA designation is assuring you that the electrical systems are meeting all the Canadian Electrical standards and requirements.

Best Regards,

Hob

Understand that...same as UL in the USA. It's an North American market that exists now. Manufacturers obtain both UL and CSA certifications to meet the North American market. Everything in my camper that should be certified is already CSA certified although I waived the Canadian CSA option. I don't believe that anyone produces specifically a US and Canadian camper models.

Therefore, what's the in the Canadian CSA option?

Dave

Maybe it's something to get an extra dollar out of you. I've become as leary of RV salesmen as I am a used car salesman.

The fact is there are differences. I am currently away from the office but can provide a list that goes into the CSA requirements at another time.
It is true while a microwave or furnace or smoke detector might be already CSA and UL there are numerous other items that all manufactures must do for Canada that they don't do for USA.
This is a mandatory standard we as manufactures must adhere too. This does not mean one is better than the other only one cost more to produce on with the items mandated by CSA.
Going off memory ....larger wire gage as well as other items are mandated.

Safe travels,

Tomcat

Appreciate the feedback...I'm very interested to know what differences are mandated for CSA certification. I asked this question prior to purchasing twice before and wasn't provided with much of an answer, which is the reason we waived this option.

Standard on the Wildcat is Lippert Components' 1621 extended pin box.

Dave, take a look at some more information here:
CAN/CSA Z240 RV SERIES-99 (R2004)
"The CAN/CSA Z240 Standard for Recreational Vehicles covers four critical areas: propane gas, vehicular, electrical and plumbing."

It is not compulsory for US manufacturers to apply for and have their equipment tested by a CSA certified lab. That does not imply that the unit will not pass CSA certification, just that it has not gone through the test. The same goes for European TUV standards testing.

You waiver the certification so that the seller is off the hook. In Ontario you can have Ontario Hydro (don't know which branch it is now) come in and test the product at your cost.

They do make a 50 to 20amp adapter. A little spendy at $54 but we got ours off Amazon. Nice to not have to take out the 50amp cord when we are at home getting stuff packed and ready to go.
This is the one we bought:
Amazon.com: Conntek 14422 RV Pigtail Adapter 15 Amp Male Plug With Screw To 50 Amp 125/250 Volt Locking Female Connector: Patio, Lawn & Garden

The electrical outlet on power posts at campgrounds are female. To use your 50 amp cord on a 30 amp receptacle you will need a dogbone adapter, 30 amp male end and 50 amp female end. You plug the dogbone into the campground’s power post and then plug the RV cord into that. I’ve never seen a 15 amp to 50 amp adapter. I guess you could buy a 15 to 30 amp adapter and then plug the 30 to 50 amp dogbone into it. Here’s a picture of what the 30 male to 50 female dogbone adapter looks like.

Be sure you get 30 amp MALE and 50 FEMALE and not the reverse.
