BEST 5er HITCH

Boys, the new 344QB is here, checked over, and ready to roll. Also, just picked up a 2011 F250 Superduty Supercrew (diesel) with 6 foot box. The previous owner had it to tow 5ers, and the bottom rails are all installed and bolted to the frame. All I need is a hitch. Going on first trip this coming weekend and will order a hitch tomorrow AM. Before I do, anyone with similar set up have any suggestions? (trailer weighs 11000lb dry and pin weight is 1700lbs dry.)

B&W Patriot hitch if you don't need a slider.

Thanks, looked it up, it has the side to side and front to back sway for hooking and unhooking on uneven ground. That just might work. Is the Reese R16 comparable or are there any real world differences.

I have a Reese 16K and have no gripes. As long as you don't need a slider.

If you need or want a auto slider...can't beat the Pullrite Superlide...works flawlessly

You will find that whatever hitch a person has is the best one. You just have to read the comments as I doubt anyone would have anything negative to say about the one the own, but will down play what someone else has. Just human nature I guess.

since mine is the same trailer, your pin will be a lot higher like in the 2400# range with the hitch installed and everything else in the trailer, I have a superglide and love it. but my hitch weighs in around 250lbs

Thanks boys, With the 6.5 foot box will a slider be necessary? If so, no worries. But if I don't require it I won't bother. I will be making some tight turns with this girl.

If you're going to make tight turns and you have a short bed, you will definitely want a slider hitch. I just put a SuperGlide in my truck and absolutely love the auto-slide feature. You just go and don't worry about it that way, it's really nice

I dont think you will need a slider with our cap. but borrow a hitch and see how far you can go, the dealer in your area should have one you can try...

I have an F250 short box and I highly recommend a slider. I have a manual one, but I have used it plenty getting into tight spots. Think of a slider as insurance...hope you never need to use it, but when you do, you will be glad you had one.

There really is no "best". Only what is best for you. I have a Curt 20K manual slider and have had no issues with it. I rarely use the slider, and I don't think I have ever "needed" it (yet), but I sure feel better having it. I know I come close just parking in my driveway. I call it "peace of mind". If you can afford it, get it.

Fellas, friend of mine picked me up a Reese 16K square tube slider that should do the trick just nicely. I'll never haul anything bigger than that in the foreseeable future, and the slide is there just in case. It has 5 deg of tilt side to side for those uneven campsites, and the price was right. Thanks again guys. Now watch me forget the slider and bust out the rear window of my "new to me" F250 first time out the driveway.

Cool Monte. If you got the wireless remote compressor, you will love it. Being able to adjust on the road, without all the tubes and wires coming in the cab is great. I put it all in myself, and it took a while to get it all right, but it's in and working, and I like it.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

monte, if you could look at your propane bottle straps and tell me if their is a pin that the short strap hooks into, when I took mine out in the fall I think I lost both for the bottles, I tried a nail in the multiple holes but to no avail I cant get them to snap over and secure the bottles. Picts would be great.. one (long) strap has a about 3 inch u channel that it is secured to but the other is just a hook
