Bike Hitch on Wildcat 312 QBX

Hi there folks,
I just wanted to share a solution that I worked out with our Wildcat 312 QBX. When we got the unit it came with the fold down platform in the back. As it comes, there is a black bar that sticks up in the back that I guess would be used to attach things to. We had a need to transport our bikes so I ordered THIS bike rack from Amazon and made some modifications. Drilled a few holes to match the existing bar and added some side supports (which frankly are probably not needed). I just thought some might find this helpful. We appreciate the forum and being able to ask questions of those much wiser than us newbies.

can you provide some closer view of where you connected to the vertical bar?

Sure,
Enclosed are 4 pics of how the bike rack main bar slips over the RV vertical bar. You can see that the bike rack main bar starts about 4-6 inches above the base of the RV vertical bar. I drilled two 3/8 inch holes for the side to side bolts and the top bolt that engages the angled iron from Lowes, drilled front to back, is above the top of the RV vertical bar so I only had to drill through the main bike rack support. Just curious if you ever thought about switching it so that bikes hung off the back so you retain full use of your cargo rack?

Thats an idea that I entertained for sure. The fact is that we are new to this and it makes be a bit nervous to even further extend the length of the unit. I know folks do that on a regular basis (and of course some folks with busses trail a car), but I am not there yet with that comfort level. Thanks for the thought however!

Good point. I like your mod and if I get it done and it works well off to the back I'll let you know. Ours came with a camera so at least I can take a look back there occasionally as we're moving down the road.
