Camping trip pics... Big Horn Mtns

The family went camping this weekend in the Big Horn's. It rained for the better part of 2 days, but the Wildcat kept us cozy and dry. We had a blast. I was able to take pics of 6 of the 12 moose we saw. Here are some pics:

We haven't been there for far too long, it is awesome country.
I see you had a quad along, are there lots of trails to ride? Many restrictions on where you can go?
And may I ask what campground that is?
Thanks.

Bakken, there are trails galore to ride on and not many restrictions at all. We stayed at Owen Creek CG, but there are a ton of them up there. You can camp almost anywhere, as long as it is 1/2 mile away from the highway.

I want to get back up there again sometime. I was raised around Hardin Mt. and we used to go up there a lot when I was a kid. In 1971 I worked a construction job over on Goose creek building a water reservoir for the town of Sheridan Mt.

I camped at Owen creek back in 1966 that's how old I am.

Hello Blackrock,

Nice to see someone who grew up around my area. Did you work on Little Goose Creek in Wyoming? I know of Little Goose Creek near Sheridan,WY that comes out of the Big Horns.

I bet Owen has changed a bit since you were last there, it has a paved turn off with a visitor map now!

Thanks ahanson!

Dubois is really nice, that is where my sis-in-law's family always camps. Can't wait to get back there!

Wyoming (and southern MT) has some of the most beautiful country on earth

The reservoir I built is named Sawmill and on the Red Grade road out of Sheridan. Don't remember if it's on Big or Little Goose as that was back in 1971. It was my first job after getting out of tha Army. I was a wildazz 21 yr old catskinner runnin nine-oh with my tail on fire.

We went down FR 26 right across from Owen Creek CG to the job site. Went in on snow machines after it got to deep for our 4x4 and lived in travel trailers. Stayed in there for two weeks at a time coming out only for more food, fuel and BEER.

That's awesome, I've been back to Sawmill reservoir and Sawmill Lake. Sounds like the perfect life, even if it only lasted a short time
