I've found that no matter how slow I fill, sometimes I still need to 'burb' the tank. I.e. I wait for it to settle down and then start filling it again. Kind of like how you do when feeding an infant.

Also, you said this is your first trip. Did you have water in the lines and/or the hot water tank before you started? Might have taken quite a bit out of your fresh water tank just to fill those.

There's nothing wrong with your trailer....your gauge is likely bang on if you ran out of water in one day...when filling the fresh water tank they do tend to burp like that. What you need is one of the very inexpensive water fillers...it screws onto the end of your water hose, has a valve on it and a long piece of tubing on it that allows you stick it a little ways down the throat of your filler. Once I got one of those my problems were solved. They cost under $10....if I knew how to attach a link I would, but go to Amazon, put RV water tank filler in the search and the Camco 40003 will come up...thats the exact one I use.

X4, plus turn on your pump while filling, to fill the hw tank, otherwise you pull those gallons right off when you are setting up.

Open a faucet in the camper when filling to get the air out of the tank.

We saw one of these at camping world and when we use it we have no problem filling the tank. Secure-Fill - SNL SNL1SF - Faucets & Inlets - Camping World

When we didn't have it, filling the trailer could be a little hassle.

My Flagstaff 27RLWS always burps water out of the vent when I am filling it. I fill until the water runs out of the filler neck itself. If I stop when the vent burps, it is only about a third full.
