FRESH WATER GAUGE Reading 2:3 full and never been used?

Hi guys , We are on our 5th camping trip this year.
Down here in Old Orchard Beach this time. Great spot by the way.
Noticing when I check my tank levels that the fresh water tank is reading more and more full. Odd considering I've never added water to it.
Is it possible that the plumbing is somehow crossed and when I use the black tank flush valve that the water is also pumping into my fresh water tank? It is the only way I've "added" water to the system.
Is there a way I can drain the fresh water tank other than turning on the pump and using the water?
Or just a faulty sensor. I can understand a black tank sensor getting dunked up but not the fresh water tank sensor.

There should be a separate FW tank drain and that would verify that you actually have water in the tank. The most likely suspect would be a leaking check valve on the pump suction that's allowing water into the FW tank when you're hooked up to city water.

Your check valve on the water pump is probably allowing water to flow into the freshwater tank when you are on city water. The black tank flush is a separate system and not tied into your water system.

In the mean time open your fw tank drain valve and see if water flows out.

Um.
Where s the pump? The 344qb is tight underneath, no access to any of the plumbing.
Outdoor shower, tank dump pulls, FW inlet are all in a sealed door section, but i cannot get behind it to access the plumbing. I've been looking for 30 min and too embarrassed to type this. But here I am.

You may have to remove a panel or two to access the water pump

Turbs. My love for wrenching on things is limited to my 2010 ext turbo with TD programming.
This trailer with all its very thin, flimsy, glued together parts just makes me nervous.
Lol!!!!

In our trailer, the pump is underneath the bathroom sink, but you have to open the cabinet door, then unscrew a panel to get to it.

I knew I liked you. I even put a 1978 el Tigre stripe kit on it as my own retro tribute to the Cat.

Just turn it on, run small amount of of water in the sink, you'll soon find it.

Found the pump. Had to remove outdoor shower assembly to see it. Still can't really access it. What exactly am I looking for? Is there a valve I need to turn one way or the other to be sure the water doesn't divert over to F. Water tank?

OK here's a shade tree way to find out if the valve is leaking, take a pair of vice grips and put on the line from the pump to the tank. If the tank quits filling up the it's the valve.

Just curious do we know for sure there's a 2/3 full tank of fw in the tank and the gauge/ sensor isn't faulty?

Yup. I turned pump on and ran the tap for a while.gauge showed it dropping.
Still looking for the FW tank drain.

The check valve is internal to the Shurflo pump. If that check valve is leaking city water back into the fresh water holding tank, the valve assembly (or pump) will need replacement.

A "shade tree" mechanic solution might also be to add ANOTHER one between the pump and the tank.

My sensor was reading full, then 1/2 without adding water, brand new WCF31LT, I removed part of the underbelly under the fresh water tank & checked the sensors, turned out the screws on the sensors were not tight, I added a few washers to fill the space & it works find, but the black water sensors are a whole different deal. I am thinking of replacing the sensors on the black & re-wiring. Hope this helps with the fresh water.

One question. Do you have a pressure regulator on your city water inlet connection? If not, then you never really know what the water pressure is at different campgrounds, so the pump's check valve gets more pressure than it was designed to stop, and thereby leaks backwards slowly into your fresh water tank. I was baffled by that same discovery on mine, and corrected the problem with a pressure regulator (about 10.00).
Hope this helps, Randy
