Update.

I got the sail switch replaced.
We went on a camping trip. The water heater quite working the first day.

I brought it back to them after the trip. And they replaced the pressure valve.

I tested it after and I had hot water at both taps & the shower.

Went on another camping trip and Again the hot water quite working after 1 day!!!

Now the shop is telling me they can't fix the unit without removing a safety switch. Which they won't do.

They recommend switching to a regular hot water tank.

Not really what I wanted to hear on a 2012 trailer.

Advice appreciated.

I have tankless, and I'm getting it replaced with a conventional....and mine is a 2017.

Others love their tankless.

I know, that's plenty vague, but I prefer dependable and ending hot water to undependable and occasionally unending hot water. All I need hot water for in an RV is to shower (I could heat water in microwave to wash dishes if necessary, just two of us and we use chinette stuff mostly), so 10/12 gallon conventional that is dependable is all I need.

Something doesn't sound right in what the dealer is telling you. Sounds like they don't know how to fix it and it would be easier for them to put in something they do know. If girrard won't get back to you I would try a FR factory rep or at least another dealer.

I don't have much confidence in the dealer that it's at. I've already got over $400 dollars into this and still have a broken water heater!!!

I guess I have to decide if I keep throwing money at this. Or just scrap it?

Ouch... It didn't register that you were out of pocket. I would definitely start bombarding Girard. Maybe they can help the dealer techs or give you another option. I have also found if I take a problem to another dealer/shop and say so-and-so couldn't fix it maybe you can, that it's amazing what can be fixed. And I would be asking the dealer for some help on your $400 that didn't fix anything. Good luck!!

Ok. Finally getting somewhere on this.

I have learned that our water heater IS covered under First Canadian Warranty.

And I also finally talked to someone at Girard.

They recommended swapping the first generation unit we have with a second generation unit IF warranty agrees to pay for it.

I'm also looking into seeing if I can pay the difference and going with the third and current generation of Girard water heater.

I'll update once something gets resolved.

Atwood markets a similar continuous hot water heater with much less problems.

Thanks. They will cover some of my previous costs. But they don't want to pay for the sail switch or the removal & installation of it. Because in their eyes it wasn't necessary because it didn't fix the problem.

I'm still working on getting them to cover that....

I'm still fighting with warranty! They only want to cover half of the cost to replace the water heater.
Because the service center can't nail down the exact cause of the failure....,
