Gooseneck

Just purchased a 15' 312bhx Wildcat. We have not taken delivery just yet. I k now there was discussion about 5th wheel to gooseneck adapters a while back. But that was for lippert frames not the new NXG frames. Anyone have insight on purchasing the mor ryde goosneck adapter or getting the reese goosebox?
THanks for your help.

We take possession of our new Wildcat this week. I do know that husband requested the higher cost gooseneck box. He has experience with this type hookup, so it's a preference thing. I do know that the gooseneck that we requested, has shock absorbers installed, to eliminate any extra movement in hauling process.

99.9 % of new fifth wheels come with a 5th wheel, which requires a 5th wheel hitch in the truck. I don't like 5th wheel so I went goose. I bought my goosebox from another dealer because purchasing dealer wanted to much. Unless you specified gooseneck it's probably a 5th wheel setup

If you like gooseneck setups, should consider the B&W setup. I have the hitch installed, aftermarket, and have the Companion 5th wheel hitch. Nice thing about this setup is one person can R&R the 5th wheel hitch by himself.

I like our Goosebox. Bought it dealer installed on the trailer when it was new. Would never go back to a dish/pin arrangement.Weve been running it this summer and it must equate to a better ride in the trailer because nothing gets pitched off counter tops or dumped inside drawers when we pull it.

I agree trbomax. I had 5th wheel in part truck and trailer. The goosebox and be hitch works great. It's smother then before.

Going from a TT to a 5er soon, never pulled a 5er before. Looking at goose neck hitches because we boondock most of our nights and rarely did we have the TV and TT level with each other at time of unhitch. Heard the gooseneck was better in this situation.
Question is, on a 05 Chev 2500 with 6.6ft bed will the goose neck cause major damage to my TV? Will I need more clearance and should I go with the B&W companion?

I chose the Andersen Ultimate Fifth Wheel which is a kingpin to gooseball setup. No regrets. Its a great solution with many fans. Their design eliminates the angular stress that a typical goose adapter imparts. I am towing a 2016 NXG framed Wildca.

Gooseneck hitch

Short bed trucks and 5th wheels often lead to broken rear windows on the truck. Most folks with short beds often go to a slider hitch to prevent this. Having said that, depending on how the kingpin is set up, clearance may not be an issue if it is set back far enough. Best bet is have the truck at the proposed rv and you can take measurements to see how much clearance you have for sharp turns. Good luck and hope this helos. BTW, I have used gooseneck on my last three 5th wheels. Would never consider anything else.

I dont think it would work on a short box. the ball must be 2 to 4 in ahead of the axle centerline, Mine is 4". Measure it up and see,but I think you are going to be limited to a slider/5th wheel on that truck.

My Andersen is installed on a 6.6ft standard bed. With the kingpin adapter reversed and the Curt 4" offset ball I am able to do a full 90deg jack without touching the cab. This applies to recent model GMC and Chevy trucks. Can't speak for the Ram and Fords.

Reese goose box on our 5er and a 2500 short bed, no problems yet!
