Gooseneck adapter
I have a 2013 293REX. I am considering putting a gooseneck adapter on it, but I have read it could cause a problem on some fifth wheels. Is this the case for the new wildcats?

Don't know about your unit BUT some mfrgs will VOID the warranties if a gooseneck adapter is used on their 5th wheel trls

I ran goosenecks for years on my flat bed trailers . I would not switch my 5th wheel over if you paid me to. My wife could never hook a goose neck up by herself. with the 5th wheel my daughters could hook and go in 5 min. Why are you thinking of switching over are you having problems with your hitch? How many 18 wheelers do you see with a goose neck. my 0.02

It puts a tremendous load on the pin box mount that the trailer was not designed to absorb. Wouldn't dream of it on an rv trailer.

I think Reese has an adapter called the goosebox that one or more of the frame manufacturers have ok'd. But I would look into it to make sure before purchasing.

The main two reasons are 1: I'm tired of having to remove the hitch when I need the use if my bed. 2: the noise when hitting bumps when towing. I can probably get rid of most of the noise by getting a better hitch.

If you already have a goose neck receiver installed on your truck just buy a B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch. Goes in and comes out with ease so you end up with the best of both worlds No warranties voided. IMHO Chris

That is a great concept. I do not have a goose neck receiver in already. This looks like a good fix if I did.

This hitch system gives you the both types of pulling. I have it installed in my F-150, now I have bumper pull, goose neck and 5th wheel all in the same truck.
The gooseneck part of the system took me about 4 hours to install and the 5th wheel took about 20 minutes for set up then form there it's less then 5 minutes to reinstall. I bought the B&W system as it's built. I know there are other brands out there that are little cheaper but if I'm pulling my new trailer, I want the toughest hitch. Chris

I have the B&W FLAT BED Companion, and it's even easier to install and remove than the standard Companion.
I loosen ONE bolt (torqued to 40 ft-lbs) and pull it out. I believe the standard Companion has several bolts that must be loosened.
The Flat Bed version requires that you have a thick reinforced bed on which to sit the hitch.

My Companion has three bolts to loosen before pulling out of gooseneck hitch receiver. Chris

Yep- 2 U-bolts (80 pound torque) and 1 draw-down bolt (40 pound torque).
I'll admit- I'm jealous of the flat bed companion's difference in installing and removing it.

But it's still easier to return to a flat pick up bed compared to regular 5th wheel hitch styles. Since I use my truck for hauling feed and hay, I need all the space I can get. Chris
