New Trailer on the way

The wife and I ordered a new Wildcat 312BHX about three weeks ago. The dealer said 6-8 weeks for delivery, but havent heard anything back from them about a build date since they got our deposit. Anybody know if 6-8 weeks should be close. We are just excited about our first new new trailer, and with this warm weather we are getting a little antsy. I have been reading through the forum and seeing all the wildcat nightmares. I hope we didn't make a mistake with our choice. Maybe all the wonderful people here can put my mind at ease.

We bought a 312BHX this march and it is our 1st 5th wheel. So far other the a couple of really minor things we have not had any issues. I have also read the stories on here and was scared but fortunately we have not had a lot of issues. I am making a punch list of things to give to my dealer of things I have found wrong but really it had not been much. Some things I read on here like a weak spot on the floor in front of the fridge which we have but other then that my ignitor on the grill was broke, a cabinet clasp was broke and the door had an issue with the plate and did not want to close that is it they took care of everything but the floor because I just found it and have not taken it back for that yet. But I can tell you my family loves our new camper.

Welcome to the forum Bogey and congrats on your new Wildcat 312BHX. 6 - 8 weeks is pretty much the standard answer from dealers but in reality this time of year it could be a little longer. Not only are manufacturers busy but so are the delivery people.

Welcome to the forum !
Congratulations on the camper!

One VERY VERY important thing to remember is on a forum such as this 90 % of the people come here to complain about issues.
So you have 150 people complain about a particular brand or model and the other 5 or 6 thousand have no or little issues so have no reason to voice there complaints.
Some people are never happy or satisfied and its there nature to gripe !
If you go into this thinking you made a mistake you'll undoubtedly nit pick everything.
Go camping and have FUN MAN !

Thanks Guys. That is what i was thinking. Like the old saying I guess "no news is good news" would apply here. I guess you never hear anything from the satisfied owners. They are all out camping and having a good time. We really can't wait to get it and have some fun of our own. I love reading through the mods and upgrades people are doing. This really is a great forum.

Congrats on your new camper! We have the same one with the outside kitchen. Ours had some minor issues wrong that our dealer was able to fix, but other than that, the family has been happy.

Welcome and Congrats on your new trailer. We have a 2012 312BHX-OK. It's our first 5'er and we love it. Minor issues got repaired shortly after purchase, but nothing that kept us from enjoying the trailer. We love the layout and all the great features. Go camping and enjoy your new trailer.

I have a 2013 Wildcat 323qb. I have also had a few minor issues, the dealer took care of them. I have no regrets in buying the wildcat. Congrats on your new coach.

What are some of the small issues you guys have been having. Maybe they are something I can check out at the PDI. Anything in particular that I should look for when doing the walk through.

Just be thorough and don't sign paperwork until you're happy and satisified. You do have a PDI checklist don't you? If not plenty are available by just googling or using Bing.

6-8 weeks is very typical for this time of the year!

Our issues were things like inside 2 scuffs in the wallpaper, loose interior steps, loose storage door hinges/ stripped screws, door catches not lined up, wardrobe slide molding was too long & caught on carpet, outside -the underside of the front end molding was not attached (we noticed a couple more Wildcat 5ers at dealer like that). This is the part you stand under when opening the battery storage area. Hope this helps.

Our issues where bad speaker, landing jack keep blowing fuses (landing leg was slightly bent) they replaced leg, window on main slide was not flush on one side you could see gasket replaced window, no caulking around one of the marker lights, bed room slide was not sealing off completely at the top they adjusted slide out. Caulking around antenna had a gap in it. The dealership that we bought the camper from did a great job of getting the repairs done and taken care of us.

I had a friend who bought a new camper last year (non Forest River) that had several problems with it, so he asked the dealer why he was having so many issues when his last camper he had no issues. The dealer asked him if he bought the camper new he told him no I bought it used. The dealer told him the reason he didn't have any problems with the other camper is because someone had already worked out all of the bugs out. I think there is definitely some truth to that statement. I think no matter what brand of camper you buy will have issues.

Hey Chris,
How long before delivery does the factory know when your trailer will be built. It has been 4 weeks and just thought I should have a build date by now. Thanks

It's always best to contact your dealer for an update on this! Ask them to speak with their specific factory representative to get a production offline date from the factory. Good luck! And thank you for your business!
