"Slide Out Awning"
We have a 2010 Wildcat Fifth Wheel 28RKBS. Just curious if anyone have the Slide Out Awning on their RV's and if they like them. Any info would be appreciated. I have looked at the Carefree of Colorado and the AE brands. thank you very much in advance.

Our Flagstaff 26 RBSS had the AE slide awning on when we bought it. It still gets dirty but keeps the leaves and twigs off, may help ensure the gasket doesn't leak too! So far it has been trouble free.

I wouldnt have one myself, they make alot of noise in the wind, and I have helped others out campin when the Rain puddled and nearly pulled it loose,

I like ours! My last camper didnt have the awnings and I always had to clean the slides before letting them in.

I ordered one on our trailer. I read numerous discussions on these boards, most positive. Run a search for awning covers and draw your own conclusions. I am happy with ours.

I have one on my camper and pleased with it and I do recommend it, the only thing is that it needs to be clean just like your standard awning and you don't want to close up the slide out with twigs or small hard stuff in it. If you are camping under trees I suggest that you get up on the roof before you close the slide out and inspect it.
Now if you didn't have a topper you will still have to get up on the roof at some time and check out the of the slide roof out any way.

Better with than with out keeps You off the roof and stops most leafs and twigs from getting on the slides well worth the extra $$$ to Me and also the Wife agrees so it has to be good...LOL

We have one on our Rock 2604. It does collect water in the rain, but helps out tremulously in the heat. When bought our TT, it wad in July and you could tell the difference between slides with and slides without the awning. It requires some attention, but glad we have it. Oh, we have weathered a couple of summer storms without a problem.....other then the water pooling.

Had them on my last 2 trailers. Never had a problem.
Sure, water will pool sometimes, but the water drains off while bringing the slide IN.
I'm going to order and install one for our present trailer.

My Flagstaff has 2 of them, and I have never had slack in them- no pooling in rain, or anything. Only problem is they need cleaned, just like the other awnings, but they keep twigs and most leaves off of the top of the slides. saving the seals. I say get them! Randy

We're having CoC awnings installed on our Sandpiper, but we're not picking it up for a while, and not moving in for several months. From the research I've done, it was a must-have for us.

I have them on both my slides and had them on my last class a. Love them they are trouble free and help keep the roof cooler in the sun and clean.

We like ours, but the wind does flap it around quite a bit, so I don't really like that part because it worries me. Other than that we'd for sure get another one if we needed it.

I don't have them, have to use the ladder to clean off the slide top, but I would check it anyway, before closing up. I take a stiff broom, and do a quick sweep.
That lets me check all the roof-top visually as well.
I heard a good trick: buy a basketball-sized plastic beach ball, and shove it under the awning. It will bulge the material upward and relieve any pooling.
Push it out, when you do your ladder check, and slide in.

I had mine adjusted for more tension. No flapping and no rain in awning.

I think the biggest advantage with the slideout awnings is that it keeps the rain away from the seals, and one less chance for a leak. I didn't think twice about ordering them.

I had them on my old 5er, and yes sometimes in high winds they would make noise, however as stated above they help keep the unit cooler in summer and protect the slides in rain/snow. Just ordered them for my new Blue Ridge.
