Solar Port & Window questions

Hi Chris,

I just picked up my 2015 282 RKX- love it so far. Can't wait to get it out camping.

A few quick questions:
1) While doing the PDI, I noticed there's a port near the battery that says, "Solar Port 10A"... I don't recall reading anything about this in the literature or the brochures, so I'm fairly sure it's a recent addition. I was wondering if you could explain how I should use that? Is there already a charge controller (to prevent over charging) installed?

2) I ordered the dual-pane windows, and in the main living area above the couch on the driver's side, there's a sliding window with a screen. The emergency handles, however, prevent the screen from closing all the way (see the attached photo). How is that screen supposed to be installed? I believe the dealer is looking into it as a warranty item, they believe I may have received the wrong window. Just wondering if you have any input on that.

3) I also noticed a similar situation in the master bedroom- there is no screen on the emergency window, just two latches to open it. Is there supposed to be a screen there? One of the reasons we really liked the Wildcat bedroom layout is that it allowed for cross-ventilation.

I guess I wouldn't have ordered dual-pane windows if I wasn't going to be able to open these windows... Any input on that would be great.

Thanks,
Matt

I would also like to know more about this 10A solar port. It was on my 2015 337FB. It appears it has no charge controller and is limited to 10A. I believe its Zamp Solar but their website indicates that using a 10A panel without a charge controller for more than a few days can damage the battery, so use a charge controller anyways.

It appears that some of the Zamp RV solar kits include the charge controller built onto the back of the portable solar panels ... and you can just run the cable from the charge controller on the panel to the solar port on the RV.

Here's the info on the solar port from Furrion:
FSPP95SA-BL - Solar power - RV Camp Power - Electrical

The panel can be ordered from Forest River's part department directly:

I'll look into this with our people on Monday! Not sure what's happening there in the photo -- I haven't seen that before!

Thanks for the info on the solar port. I will call and ask on pricing.

I really like the Furrion power port on my wildcat and the blue lights when it's plugged in.
