Just turn on the switch and open a faucet , you will be able to hear it run. It won't damage the pump to run it dry for a short time.

Start with checking your fuses. If they're good you'll have to check for power at the pump, then the switch and so on. My pump is behind the utility center.

On another post you said the water tank won't drain. Is there water in the tank and are you using the right drain, not the low point drain or other tank drains?

Make sure you don't have the house water turned on. Pump won't turn on if house water is on.

Could be a faulty pressure switch in the pump. Easy to change
