Where are all the Wildcats?

Been out camping 4 different times now. Ohio once and 3 times in Tennessee, with a couple more trips planned this year. Where is everyone. Passed a Wildcat on the road one time, but, have not seen one in a campground. Are there just not that many on the road. Love ours by the way.

FR makes so many different brands the pool gets watered down and the odds of seeing your brand go down.

Apparently not many of us out here. I only saw 4-5 Wildcats including mine at last year's International Rally in Goshen... was told there were 8 Wildcats there out of 750 or so units.

Wildcat Maxx units are built in California, I've been told... and all others are built in Wakarusa, IN as of last summer (I've been told).

Click here: Wildcat Fifth Wheels / Travel Trailers by Forest River RV

Wildcats are shipped to the blue region. Wildcat Maxx units are shipped to the white region.

10 years ago there were quite a few Wildcats on the road. It was a very popular FR brand and there was even a dedicated forum (now defunct) on the Internet with over 4000 members. At that time, Wildcat was a hot selling brand. That was also about the time that Forest River lost their way with that brand and things started going downhill fast. Dealers quit carrying Wildcats, users were having serious issues with their fifth wheels, etc.

In 2003 the longest fifth wheel made by Wildcat was 30 feet long. By 2012 I don’t think they offered anything under 33 feet and some units were 40 feet long. In 2003 we bought our Wildcat 27RK for $17,500 and it offered a lot of bang for the buck. Four years later in 2007 we ordered our 2008 Wildcat 28RKBS to get a bedroom slideout with the front closet and paid $32,500 and some dealers were asking $38,000 for that unit. That’s quite a price jump. The 2008 had so many issues that I actually thought about giving up on the RV lifestyle.

Dan, the Wildcat Maxx is built in Oregon, not California.
unless there was a recent change.

You are exactly correct, they are built in Oregon. We live in iowa and bought our MAXX in Washington St so if you think Wildcats are rarely seen, try finding a MAXX east of Wyoming!
And yes, we luv our MAXX and feel we got a lot of bang for the buck when we bought it and still do!!!

Wildcat Sterling 32RL

Our 2013 Wildcat Sterling 32RL lives in Maurice, LA. It travels at least one weekend (4 days) a month due to my 14/14 work schedule. With only 4 days we don't usually go to far, don't want to be going there, want to BE THERE if you know what I mean.

We LOVE our as well!

We purchased our 2015 Wildcat Maxx in Spokane Washington. They are all-weather trailers sold in the Pacific Northwest primarily around the Seattle area. I think they are made in Bend Oregon. So far we have had zero problems, very impressed with the quality.

Doh... I actually knew that at one time. Those far-away places all look the same from north Texas!

We also are always looking for other Wildcats on our trips. Have only seen a couple on recent trips. We love our 2016 327ck.

Didn't really think about until we were on the way home this past weekend and passed one coming the other direction. I've been very happy with the quality of our 275 CKX thus far, considering the dealer was really pushing this one at us and I wondered why? I guess following a forum and seeing all complaints about the product you keep waiting for the problems to pop up.

Saw 1 at Moab last September. 3 in Feb. at Yuma resort we stayed in. Later that trip we saw 2 out in the BLM at Quartzite same month. Then 2 in the same Ft. Lauderdale campground in March this year, then on the way home saw 1 at Emerald Beach GoodSam in Navarre Fla. Saw an older cat at Harrington Beach Wisconsin in May. The last siteing was 2 (looked like 2014 models) at Jellystone in Burleson TX.

When we picked up our 295rsx last summer we returned from our first shakedown camping with a short list of small issues that FR covered and the dealer fixed. Since then, nothing but fun and that from 12,000 tow miles this year alone.
