Wildcat 2012 Hydraulic slideout leaking

We have a Forest River Wildcat 2012 302RL 5th Wheel and the hydraulic slideout is leaking between the pump and the reservoir when you put it in and out. Dealer wants around $1,000 to replace pump with labor. It might just be an o-ring. Dealer told us that the manufacturer does not sell a seal kit. Anyone replace the seal between the two? Where did you get the seal? Is it difficult to do yourself?

I can't remember anybody reporting that they've repaired these units, but it should be possible to repair them. You will probably have to rear it down in order to measure the O-rings and then get new one(s).

If you decide to embark on this little adventure, please come back and let us know how it goes.

take the old "o" ring to a bearing or tractor supply company and they possibly can get you a "o" ring that will fit. unless the reservoir is cracked you will have to get a complete pump.

seals and o rings are standard sizes. seals have their size molded into them on the closed side, ODxIDxthick. O rings you'll have to measure. However, if it IS a seal/O ring, why did it fail? If a shaft is scored or pitted then it will have to be fixed or the new seal/O ring will fail very soon. If it's between the reservoir and pump then that's the "low pressure" side of the pump, would think it would leak when not in use too.

Wildcat 2012 Hydraulic slideout leaking

Hubby replaced the O ring from a tractor supply place. It is still leaking but only when you move the hydraulic slideout in and out. Not when sitting, which doesn’t make sense. We called Lippert, there was a 5-year warranty on it, been six years. He said to get some Orange Permatex and seal it, let it sit for 24 hours, re-fill it and try that. Lippert would not sell us just their O ring. Can’t see any sign that the reservoir is cracked.

Replaced O ring. Still leaking when we bring in slideout. Hubby thinks it is leaking in the back of the pump around a big nut. Think we can rebuild that pump or buy an after market pump? We want to sell the 5th wheel and don’t want to spend $1000 for a new Lippert hydraulic pump.

You may be able to buy an aftermarket pump. Get the specs off the pump and search the internet for a replacement hydraulic pump with the same specs.
