14" Vent Fan - Can it be done??
My new Wildwood T-25-KS TT does not have a range hood or external vent installed above the stove which is located in the slide out. Above the kitchen area a 14" standard opening roof vent is installed which we open when cooking. I don't understand why they didn't make this vent like the one in the bathroom that does have an electric fan installed in it BUT.. they didn't... Does anyone know if the area around this vent might be pre-wired for a Fantastic (brand?) type vent fan? My older pickup camper was pre-wired! If not pre-wired, has anyone seen or know of a small battery powered fan that could be mounted in the vent to use when cooking? Am looking for ideas or suggestions.

Adony,
I would take down the inside of the vent to check for prewiring. If you don't find any, an option is to route an electrical circuit using stick on conduit inside the trailer to a 12 volt source. Find out what the amp draw of the fan is and make sure the circuit you tie into can take the extra load.

Another option is a remote control fan/vent. Had one installed in my rear bath. They're a little pricey, but you don't have to mess with running wires.

A fan needs power and thus wires, no matter if it's remote control
or not.
I also agree you should take a look.
I had a fan-less vent over our bed. I removed the inside trim and
found several wires running to lights in the area.
I simply tapped into one of them and powered my MaxxAir fan.
The fan is not that big a current draw and we rarely have all
the ceiling lights on at the same time so I've never blown a fuse.
What ever type fan you get, Fantastic or MaxxAir I highly recommend
a maxxair vent cover. This allows you to have the vent open
all the time no matter if it's pouring rain or sunny.
It really sucks to be stuck inside a stuffy trailer during a rain storm
and not be able to run your fans.
If you have a ceiling light nearby it's not that big a deal to get
a wire from the light to your vent cutout but I'm betting you'll
find wires there already.

Wow, KyDan, I completely forgot about that. Mine did have an existing fan, but the morons who built my trailer put the fan and vent about 10 feet off the floor so there was no way to use it.

mine had a switch for it at the light switch area. it did nothing till one day i went to use the fan and couldnt figure why it wouldnt work!
