261BH xl storage under back bunk

Has any converted the area under back bunk into storage. Some models have an outside kichetn in this area.

I did the same thing as you: took the screws out of that upper panel and drilled a 1" hole in it as a finger hole. I store extra bottled water and toilet paper in there. Would be better if I installed access doors as getting to it can be a bit of a pain, especially if someone is using the bunk.

I have the outdoor kitchen but there is still a considerable ammount of unused potential there. I have been trying to talk the wife into letting me cut an opening into it and buying a door that matches our cabinetry for it. She has been against that idea for some reason. The biggest problem is that since it is after the axles you have to be careful on the weight you put in it. From my understanding, travel trailers are very picky about weight placed after the axle (more potential for sway). I think this storage possibility would be great for extra linens, clothes, paper goods, and maybe a case or two of water but I would be careful about how much weight put in this area.

More for extra paper products and linens. We just up graded from a pop up, which was great, I don't miss all the work that came with it.

We started with a $1000 1997 Viking pop-up about 4 years back, then a 1992 19' foot travel trailer, and then we bought our 261bhxl. We could never go back to a travel trailer.
