2nd time out

Took our Wildwood T29BHBS out this last week end. First time out a check valve failed in the water system. Now we have not hot water. We were hooked up to city water and I could not get the hot water tank to work. Both the DSI and the electric did not produce any hot water. I checked the GFI, and then the main panel and the fuse for the H/W tank. All with no luck. Made yet another service appointment for the new trailer. Fortunately we are not going to use it over the memorial day week end.

I hope water heater bypass valve is closed? and other valves open
Even if electric element is burnt out gas operation should work

Are you sure the switch is on under the outside cover? That switch must beon, and the breaker in the wfco converter box must be on, and you should have hot water. There is a possibility that your element is blown out. You must have water in the heater before turning on the power. Also, I have heard of a reset button where the element is installed in the tank- hard to get to, but maybe it's tripped. GOOD LUCK!!!

It sounds like maybe the bypass valve was open. If it was, you won't get any hot water from the faucets. Did the gas side light? If so I'd bet the bypass valve was open. Hopefully the tank was full of water and you didn't burn up the electric element. You can open the T&P valve to see if the water in the heater is getting hot. That'll let you know if the heater is working and it's a valve problem.

I went to the trailer yesterday. After reading the hot water tank manual I found that there are reset buttons. After opening the hot water tank cover, the buttons are located on the back of the water heater panel. I reset both buttons. I then went inside the trailer and for just a brief moment I switched the hot water tank switch, located just beneath the counter top, and the red light came on. Knowing that I have very little water in the fresh water tank, I am going to bring the trailer home this week end and fill the fresh water tank and hook it up to city water and then try out the hot water tank. When I was hooked up to city water at the campground, water came out BOTH hot and cold water faucet. There was a full tank of water in the hot water tank--I know because I unscrewed the plug while system was pressurized. Thankfully the water wasn't hot. Gas valve was open and was getting propane to refrig and stove top. Question about the on/off switch located on back panel of hot water tank(outside) why does it have to be on? I thought that it was used only if hooked up to shore power/generator or in tandom with hot water tank switch located in side the trailer. Will also check that all valves are set for summer use. If all fails I have an appointment with service for next week

The switch out side is for electric only.It does not have to be on if you are using gas only.The one inside is for the gas.

I leave the outside switch on all the time, and so do many others on here. The dedicated water heater circuit breaker in the converter box can then be used to power on or off the water heater. MUCH easier to access. The red toggle switch mounted on the wall is to power up the gas side of the water heater. I camp a lot "dry" and use the gas side when doing so. When I hook up to shore power, I turn on the breaker, and that's all I need to do-(after hooking up city water, and turning that on) to get hot water. GOOD LUCK, Randy

Oh, the "TP valve" is the pressure release or pop off valve that is located under the cover outside. In the case of an overheat causing too much pressure, this releases water and air pressure, so your tank doesn't rupture. You can verify water is in the tank by opening the valve. Randy

Quick question 08flagvlite-

You said you leave the switch in the "On" position at the hot water heater, and control the electric at the breaker? I assume that is the electric side of the hw heater? So if you leave the switch off on your control panel and have the electric switch on you will have power to the element?

I didn't pick up on that when the tech walked me through (first TT). I assumed that if you had the switch off on the control panel then there was no power to the hw heater. If that is the case I'm lucky that I haven't burnt my element up!!

Sure am glad I watch this site. You never know what you may learn, especially if your a newbe like me!!
