356 QBQ a/c unit

Has anyone had an issue with their a/c unit running continuos? A week ago we used our a/c and it wasn't really that hot out. Noticed that it never seemed to shut off. Turned the temp up to 80 and still wasn't shutting off. So I just shut the unit off by the wall thermostat and left it for the week.
Last weekend when we got to camp it was cool and dropping to the mid 40's overnight so I turned it directly to heat and set it at 64 degrees for the night in anticipation of us needing heat overnight. As soon as I turned on the thermostat the overhead a/c -fan kicks on. Couldn't leave it set on heat w/o it coming on unless I knocked down the a/c breaker.
Any ideas why it would just start doing this? It worked correctly all summer until just 2 weekends ago.

Set your thermostat to "auto" instead of low/high speed.

I'm sure that it was, but I'll double check when I get back up to camp Friday eve. you have me wondering if I missed something simple. Ugh.

Fonzie is correct. I am betting you have the dometic lcd thermostat as well. If fan is set on anything other than "auto" it will run all the time that either AC or Heat is selected.

You will find a similar issue when you use the furnace. The first time we used the furnace the (we thought) A/C unit turned on. We thought the wiring gremlins did something. After doing some reading online we found the fan was what was running and unless you set the fan to auto it fires up when the furnace comes on to help spread the heat around. What we thought was why was the A/C running when the heat is turned on and shut everything off. The previous trailer had the manual thermostat that just either selected ..heat...or cool...
